Is buying an Iphone 3G still worth it?

Well, one of my friends is selling her Iphone 3G for cheap like really cheap more or less half the price around the second hand market. It is still in good quality condition and has minor scratches though. The good thing is I can just change the screen guard for cheap as well. My question is it is an 8gb one, and is it worth it?

As long as the defects are cosmetic, I would say that its a very good deal. Bear in mind that the battery will degenerate, and consequently it will need regular recharging. If you have that covered, I highly suggest that you go for it...looks like you've found yourself a bargain!

I know, I might give it a shot. I might ask the owner though if I could try to take a look at it, and prolly check the phone out. And prolly, the battery life for it. If it is all good, I might do alittle more bargaining when my cash is adequate.

Hopefully, I would get the cash before she leaves. She wants to sell it before she loves and that is around 2 weeks from now.

I have a lot of experience with iPhones! And to be honest, ( hardware related ) I didn't see much difference between iPhone 2G and 3G. While from 3G to 3Gs it changes really much. The question you have to ask yourself is : what do I need it for? If you want it for fun, get it, try to get it even a little cheaper just tell him you're not sure but if he'll go 50$ cheaper or so it will make you want to get one. Else if you plan on using a phone for gaming and such, don't get it.

Well, practically I want to use it for messaging, Facebook, probably IM, and doing something with it like games or such. The price is pretty cheap as my friend qouted me. I wish I have the cash right now, my friend also gave me a date though like 2 weeks from. I hope I get the money though.

Yes I feel you should buy that iphone if you are getting it for dirt cheap. The value of iphones will not go down in the near future. Apple is one coming which makes every effort in delivering good products and painstakingly trying to innovate new products.

Well, it is 3g and not the 3gs? So you think it is still actually worth the money? I know it is dirt cheap it is actually just around half of the second hard street price market as I stated above.

hey. i was once at the same situation with you. yes, it's worth to buy one at it's cheapest price(twice down its original price). it's 3g but still it's Apple Iphone and will remain just that. i found the same model, cheaper that half of its original price, still complete set (all orginal) and NO scratches at all. i guess that's much more worthy to buy. but to buy just the phone itself without its headset and box at half price is still not smart to buy. many phones are greater in standard and quality than the Iphone 3g has. another problem is its camera with only 2megapixels. apart from that, nothing else matters. but for me, i dodn't buy the Iphone and just bought myself a Nokia touch screen X6 Express Music. same price but brand new and somehow exceeded Iphone 3g's qualities somehow. my phone is more handy, and has the best quality of music ever, and the quality of pictures are great too. well, it's for you to decide. to buy a 2nd hand iphone, or to buy other phones out there cheaper or with the same price but greater in quality and use, and most of all BRAND NEW with warranty from the company itself. apple is apple ofcourse, and it's true that its cost value remains high in time. but for me, it's practicality that counts. :) think and decide for yourself. see you around!

Well, I think the box is still around. A friend is selling it to me, it is like first owned, and is in good condition. It is actually a really good buy if I you think about it. Well, I think the headphones are there, but I would replace them with a skull candy headphone soon so it is a no biggie. I do have 2 mobile phones already, a samsung Star-wifi and a Nokia.
