The three remaining seniors, Sachin, Dravid and Lakshman, are at the fagg end of their carrers. At the most, they might play for one more year, and if India wins the world cup, I have no doubt, that the great Sachin Tendulkar might quit all forms of cricket. Is the Indian team ready for it?Do we have enough bench strength or will we be like Australia, who have been on the downhill, ever since, Mcgrath, Warne, Hayden, and Gilchrist have retired.Your views on this.

Cricket goes in cycles and as you said, Australia are going through that right now. I think India will struggle to replace someone as great as Tendulkar but like Warne and Mcgrath leaving the Aussie team I think you will see both nations strong again. It will take some rebuilding though and a lot of pain for your cricket lovers.

I believe India will have more upcoming great players as they have been having players like Yusuf Pathan and so on, if they had hard time then they will recall back Balaji, Parthiv, Pathan and more.... By retiring of Sachin will make a difference in Indian cricket team. But Indian cricket team is not even that weak that will have to face hard time in future. India will remain first in Cricket. As far as your talking about world cup..ohh yeah baby we got this.

We have got good replacements for the one dayers as well as 20/20. I am talking about the test team.Even in the recently concluded south African series, it was these seniors who took upon the brunt of the scoring, and it was because of Sachin and VVS, that we were able to draw the series honourably.

We will miss few great cricketers soon. There are players for india to make a good team , but i dont think no one can replace the god , wall , vvs . These players were revolution of cricket . But i hope players like Kohli, raina, patan, tijay, etc can maintain a good batting line up along with few experienced players and won the matches .

This is my sincere wish. I hope the youngsters shine, and do not fade away as Pathan Jr.. Irfan was a very good allrounder, who has just faded away. I hope he makes a comeback.

surely we are having good bench strength, but we will not get a player like sachin or dravid or laxman, but we are having some good young talents. yuvraj, raina, virat, rohit all can play good innings so i belive that indian future is in safe hands.

It is true that all three of these great players, Sachin, Dravid and Laxman have got to retire sooner than later and there is certainly going to be vacuum in Indian cricket similar to the one Australia is facing at the moment. Savrav Ganguly therefore therefore stressed in his column to day that all of them should not retire at the same time and I fully agree with him. The retirement of these three greats has to be staggered so that youngsters replacing some of them can get on field encouragement and advice from some of them. Although it is difficult to find exact replacement of these players, there are some talented players who have already started playing with them in tests or in O.D.I.'s. Some of the players come to my mind are, Pujara, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Raina and many others. These players will make India proud in future as they gain experience.

Let us hope you are right msdivakar.I hope the young players will be a good substitute for the retiring seniors. I also hope that Yousuf Pathan becomes a good all rounder like the great Kapil Dev.

every thing goes through ups and downs. this is true for a person, for a team and even for a country. sachin will retire after the world cup but indian team will gradually learn to play without sachin and i guess the support from sachin will come even after his retirement. just hope for the win in the world cup 2011 starting 19 feb and the future is always a mystery and hope for the best of the INDIAN CRICKET TEAM.

You are quite right on that. The Indian team will have to learn to play without Sachin, and sooner the better.Let us all hope that the Indian team will lift the World cup this year.

Yes in fact this is a matter of concern for the Indian team. We are going to miss three of the most prolific run scorers in international cricket. It's not just their game that made these three men so much adorable and respected, it's mostly the way they have conducted themselves on and off the field. For them there were no lean patches, for they made failure their stepping stone to success. The way they have handled the adulations in a cricket frenzy country is just beyond comparison. Talking about the bench strength, yes we do have guys who can perform well, but nothing comes out of the blue. It's all a matter of exposure, proper practice and above all the will to succeed. And in the long run these guys are going to make it and make it large. We cannot evaluate a player without making him play as many matches. So I think it's early to talk about budding talents. Let us hope for the best.

The best thing about VVS and Dravid, are they are fighters. They will fight till the last. One can never forget the innings they played in Kolkotta against the mighty Australians. It was only after that innings, that Indian players got the confidence to play and win against any team in the world.

ya yor right, players like laxman ,dravid, eventhough i doubt about tendulkar, are at their tail ends of their careers but i think india has a great bunch of fresh and robust blood who can make up more than the loss for team india..

If India wins the world cup, Tendulkar will defintely retire. It is only because of the world cup, that he is continuing. Of course he will continue playing in IPL.
