Preparations to realize this goal have been made- said Dr.Akira Iritomi, leader of the team and Professor Emeritus of Kyoto University. Now the Mammoth apparently died about 5,000 years ago during our last ice-age!. Now this"lovely" professor would insert a Mammoth cell into an elephant's egg cell to create a mammoth! Now I just ask myself its that fair? to the elephant? and it's actually fair to the poor Mammoth? just let say a Mammoth was created then what would happen to it! it does not belong to our age system any more so the poor animal would be displaced...no place to live except in a zoo! and then have some propaganda " HEY WE HAVE A MAMMOTH ON SHOW COME "N " SEE IT" It actually will be on show for a short period of time! after that he/she will be destroyed! At he end of the day what is your opinion about this?

Ahhh! I actually recently just heard about this via facebook... but you shed a lot more light on this issue! I mean sure it'd be pretty fancy to bring back a species, or at least attempt, but once something is extinct, it should stay extinct! I have nothing against animals, nor pretty freakin' sweet ones like mammoths, and although many extinctions are out of our control as humans, we are to blame for others! There are many things that would have been cool to see ages ago- like a passenger pigeon, for example- but I cannot because it is extinct due to HUMANS! Species that are extinct now were taken for granted back in the ages where they were not extinct. I believe that this Mammoth should NOT be brought back into reality! Like you brought up it would be poor for the elephant as well!

Yes you are right once something is extinct should stay that way! I'm just appalled at the thought that some one even consider to bring a Mammoth to life! and have an Elephant give birth to it...to me that is pure cruelty nothing less.
