What is the different impact you use your own domain, or under other's domain?

So, What would be the difference, or the different result if you register and pay for your own domain annually, and you simply register under weebly.com, or webs.com to use their template to create your own personal website, and you pay for nothing for it. So, what will you get once your website generates some traffic? I just want to know about this? Would your website created under weebly.com, eventually is not yours, and it still belongs to weebly.com?

hmm.. i do not really understand about this topic..but i think it would be nice and fun to have my own domain, especially when i can make money with domain i have. i got this link from my friend in internet, http://www.indigitalworks.com/View-details/Videos-with-Resell-Rights-Gold-Membership/Public-Domain-Treasures.html and i got the information that we can make money with our domain. has anyone ever try this? i would like to know and learn about making money from our domain.. thank you very much :)
