what happens in planchet?

Dear All, Does anybody has any logical explanation about what happens during planchat? I remember doing it with few of my friends during my college days. The outcome was very surprising. We asked the questions to the spirit and the answers were in conjuction with our questions. Further most shocking was when one of my friend asked the question in his mind (without saying it verbally) and was answered by the spirit. Though we never dared to do it again, the whole phenomenon still haunts me. Let me know if anybody has any thoughts about it??? Thanks a ton!!!!!!!!!
