Hello Lotters, I guess i shouldn't have left a hole in the gate wide open. we often used it to get inside the house, but it seemed ponchi took a bit of an interest to get out and stroll. when i got back from my brother's, he was still a bit sleepy. after a few minutes, he was gone. I know to some pet owners believed he can still come back. but that's not what am worried about, our home is located very near the main road. if he dares cross he could get squashed for sure. In this regard I believe in Lady Marissa told me a while back, that they will forget it and do come out side again. i know, that's why the gates kept closed. but i noticed ponchi looking down the side from the wall he was sitting down to. i guess he's been wanting to go outside. With the late kidnapping of cats last year, I got a bit worried with what they may do to him. but for now, am happy that i didn't clip his finger nails, he will have some defense if in case he gets into trouble. i have some latest picture of ponchi but i couldn't transfer it because the USB wire is screwed....Thank God my dog hasn't thought about leaving me.. If he gets into trouble. Well, curiosity can kill him, but i don't want that to happen.. Not to mention, it's getting dark about to rain.(where will he go for shelter)

So your cat went astray and you are so worried. Yours is a different story. My neighbor on the other hand brought and abandoned her two cats in the wilderness with their eyes all covered by paper bags so that they could not go back to her. She hated them so because they feasted on the the food she left on the table. I am not a cat lover because I dread catching asthma but I understand your grief over your lost pet. Unless somebody got your cat and kept it as his own I believe your cat can always go back because cats are pets with a very strong sense of direction. They can always return to their home even after traveling long and winding road provided their eyes are not covered. So I hope you can find your pet again and nobody got or killed it yet.

I hate to say this and I hope you're not real close friends with her, but your neighbor is a terrible and cruel person! Shame on her for doing that to innocent, defenseless animals! It's just in their nature to get into food left on the table if they're not trained not to, or even if they ARE they'll sometimes do it. I love my kitties so I'm simply careful not to leave stuff out where they can get it. Annie

Hello Salonga, That's awful, she could have just let them stay outside at least why let them inside in the first place. Of course, cats are going to feast on the food specially if they are grown up. Well, I hope she does regret what she did, it was her fault having them inside the house when they should have been just out side.

IMO is too bad of you knowing you lived near a main road yet leave a hole big enough for you to get in and not even think about the safety of your pets....shame on you! I also noticed you did not mention going out and looking for him!! Were you afraid of the dark or think you may melt in the rain!!!

Read my response before getting snarky.... "I also noticed you did not mention going out and looking for him!!" You did not post a very important part of your story so how do you expense a reader to know that you cared enough to look for him. I cannot be accused of misjudging a person when they omit certain information.

sorry but you have judged me already, that's the end of it. i have nothing else to say actually i deserve an apology for being accused of Careless to my cats. anyways, i don't want to have a bad mood on some arrogant old lady who just can't let it go.

Hello Whiteheather, How dare you tell me I didn't go out there and start looking for him, I did and I didn't have to tell that. That's the reason I didn't mylot on that very day because I had to walked across the street and taken by far just to look for him, you have no idea how hard it was for me by having absolutely no idea where he is. I think you should consider ask question first before you start judging people.

Hi LetranKnight, It is really a sad news but I hope the Ponchi does get back to you. Though I do not have a pet cat, I can suggest you prepare some of Ponchi's fav dish and keep the door open... If nearby, Ponchi can smell the fav dish and return back

It truly is horrible when a pet runs away because one feels that they don't love us and it is just such a horrible feeling my puppy has gotten out a few times like when she sees a chance to escape she goes for it which makes me really sad.

Hello Anime, It is such a horrible way that I couldn't keept it up close, I should have done something first hand but I was caught of guard and I never knew this was going to happen again which is really sad. You better keep you're puppy on a leash or a cage, it's dangerous out there I can tell.

I'm so sorry to read this and trust me, I know exactly how you feel! Please don't give up hope, he could still very well come home. Cats can be pretty darned amazing when it comes to finding their way back home. Also, please don't think of it as him "leaving you" because I'm sure that wasn't what he intended. Annie

anniepa many years ago when my daughter was child she let my Siamese cat out. She had never been outside the home so we and all the neighborhood children searched for her for days and finally after 23 days she was found, cold and hungry. So you are correct cats can be amazing.

I've heard so many stories similar to that, whiteheather. I had cats when I was a child that disappeared for a long time and came back, none the worse for wear other than being, as you said, cold and hungry. Annie

Hello annie, thank you for the comfort, maybe if it was safe out there, I would have allowed him to or he would have still have the will to do it. For one thing, am sure he's goal was to look some where else to sleep because not only he's bothered by my dog when ever I free him, another ferral hissed at him when ever that one passes by. But he has sharp claws and fat, I know he can put up a fight.

No! you have to look for Ponchi. If i were you i will not stop looking for it. I do not know what is in me that i always see the cats that I lost. That is why my mother depends on me when our cats get lost, she knows that i will do everything to return the cat at home. I get used to it and deep in my heart i was praying that i can be able to see the cat that I lost. Anyway, is Ponchi smart? is he/she alert and memorize the road to your home? I have a cat and her name is Sega. Our troubled neighbors always kidnap her throw here far away places and she can be able to return home. If we do not see her at home for five days then we get the idea that someone tripped on her and she can safely return home after two weeks. If i can be able to look after my cats if someone is trippin them or doing them harm, i would do so, so that i will just slash the neck of someone who will do it, but unfortunately no, because I am in the hospital right now. I feel bad for you, but don't lose hope and still look for Ponchi. You have to do it before its too late.

Hello grecy, No, I did look for him, I try but I couldn't concentrate mylotting with out his presence. Even if my dog is around, I can't help remember my cat and be sad. He isn't smart when it comes to exploring other places, because if he really wanted out, he could have done it many times by merely just jumping to the roof and explore houses from there. Why are you in the hospital? Hope you do get well.

I am sorry to hear that. Cats are different from dogs. You can walk out with a dog, but normally the cat doesn't like going out with you. My cat tried to "escape" from home a few times. And it also upset me. After several days, he didn't come back yet. But I still kept my hope that he would be back. And thankfully he really came back home. Perhaps after having enough fun, he would miss home:) Keep praying and I hope your cat will go home safe and sound. I love China

Hello youless, I think they don't realize how dangerous can it be outside most specially some running dogs out there. But also some fancy people who wants to mess around with your pet most specially if he or she can't fight back unless they are really hurt by them.

Hello Jaiho sis, Indeed, it was a very sad news. I kept looking at a specific hole in the house and keep checking if he is inside of that hole. At the same time I also wander around our neighbors warehouse since it's a hardware storage for their hardware store. He's no little kitty no more but a bit of a big one to me.

Your cat may still come back. I was worried about mine also. She was gone for over a month. When she first left, we put up posters and called shelters and even put an add in the local paper. Nothing. After that long of a time with no word I had given up on her. At the time I lived near a highway also and was afraid she had gotten hit. One night she just came up on the porch and wanted in. She smelled so bad the other cats wouldn't go near her, and she had lost a lot of weight. I think she might have gotten locked in someones shed or something and couldn't get out to eat. It is only natural to worry, they are like your kids, but it might still turn out okay. I hope your story turns out as good as mine did!

Hello cerebellum, That's what I don't like about them leaving. Am sure that he'll be all dirty that I had to bath him again. It's hard I was completely unaware that cats can be this sneaky, probably because of their urges this so called mating season, am sure my cat will find her own mate some day, but I am thinking of neutering him some day.

That would be scary. I used to be more scared for my animals when I lived in a town close to the highway too. I was always afraid my animals would get loose and get ran over. I live in the country now and don't worry about that anymore but I worry that a wild animal will kill them now. So far I've been fortunate on that part. I have had animals come missing but I think that someone seen them and took them. I hope whoever took them gives them a good home and doesn't mistreat them. Hopefully your cat will make it back home and if not hopefully someone seen it and didn't think it had a home and takes good care of it and nothing bad happened to it. Have a good week and if you want you can invite me to be your friend so I can see more of your topics so I can see if I can answer them or not.

Hello Margeryann, Well, I had an experienced of a cat making his way back home but he ended up getting killed in the street the next time he left the house. As for that, it was the most traumatizing thing that happened to me. That's why I was so depressed for what happened here. Thanks and have a nice day.

Hello jaylaperz, thank you for the comfort, am sure that he won't do this again, probably I should have had him neutered a long time ago, knowing that we wouldn't have to worry about him leaving the place. Thanks a lot there.

Hello TigerAunt, Well, I thought he made a decision not to leave me again after that terrible incident that he had last year. that is where he got hump by a car tire when it was looking for a parking space. i guess he forgot the bad things that happened to him that he decided to leave again. he could have left since he's just outside the but in the terrace perimiter only, i don't know what got into that cats head. He's the only reason that i didn't want to adopt another cat.. i had a terrible choice of giving his partner porsia due to extreme budget constraints on food. he's not maabilidad only if he wanted to.but i did open something on the gate that allowed him to get outside.

Hi, Knight. I did not know that you are an animal lover. Curiosity can kill the cat as the quote goes. And this time it applies literally to your pet cat. I hope nothing like that will happen to your dear POnchi. If she's just wandering outside and still in one piece , well, she will probably be back home. By the way, i think it is a mating season for animals like cats and dogs. (I can see stray dogs doing their thing publicly. THey have no shame at all. ) This could be the reason why your Ponchi was too eager to get out, to look for a mate(?) . If so, once she had fulfilled her lustful needs, she'll be running towards your home.:)

Hello Eurekafemme, Either you weren't aware or you just forgot. Ponchi is a male cat, am not sure about the mating though, when porsia was still with us here, they used to fight all the time. I guess i wasn't really sure about the cat mating thing. i didn't realize he was very much alone in his life.i hope nothing bad happened to him,and if he did i hope he's ok. and if he's stolen i hope he is in good hands with some one else. he could have gotten out if he wanted to.

If Ponchi is still a young cat or a kitten, sorry to say but I think he has a very small chance of coming back, other than the danger of speeding cars on our streets which you mentioned, there is also the threat of roving bands of street kids that might had picked him up. Now if it were a mature cat , like my large Tom cat, he will be gone for days especially if it's mating time but always manages to come back full of scars probably from battling other male cats in the vicinity. Let's just all pray and hope that he comes back safe and sound

Hello louievill, I always put them in cages for months before i let them in the terrace with out completely getting used to the place and not leaving. I thought of the dangers of speedy cars because i have experienced loosing a kitten for crossing the street. here's another problem, i am not sure if he's much of a fighter. but during election period, i used to have put a GORDON Bracelet in him as a tag. the next day it was gone taken by a kid in his feet. because It used to be fine him leaving until he became like a bumper to a car who's looking for a parking place.. I don't want my cat getting hurt, but i must say he's a brave one. maybe am just worried it's the first time he's been gone this long and a lot of idiots out there.

I know how you feel. My surviving cat also left me. She was my cat when I was still leaving in my old house. When it was demolished for a road widening, she did not get away. I found here crying and hiding beneath a fallen concrete wall. There were two of them. But the male one likes strolling outside. After the demolition, I did not see that cat anymore. The female was the one left. Then we moved to a new rented house. It seemed that my cat was very curious around the place. She began walking around the house. One day, I saw her trying to get outside the gates. I let her out for a while. After a few minutes, I called her in. Then, the next nights, she would attempt to get out of the house by climbing a tall tree which was beside the gate. She does that every night. Worrying that she might be lost, I tried to stop her from getting out. But she still tried to force me. And because I realized that she was not being lost, I just let her. One day, as I was walking outside, she also got out. She went into a gate with a high stair case next to it. My cat climbed the stairs and went exploring, when the twilight was near, I called her. But she did not respond. I just let her there but the night of that day, I saw her again. More days passed until the time I was not seeing her anymore. I attempted to find her everywhere in our village. She was gone I cannot find her anymore. Until one day, i found her. Strolling around a neighbor's house. I couldn't believe that it was her. I tried to call her while she was resting on a fence. She doesn't recognize me anymore. She was a grown up now. I tried to claim the cat when we were about to move to a new house. But I saw that the cat was very happy in there. I just let her live with her new owners.
