Let me just add something with the topic, DO YOU AGREE THAT IF YOU ARE NOT GOOD IN MATH YOU ARE GOOD IN ENGLISH AND VICE VERSA? I have heard of this a lot that if you are not good in Math you are good in English and for me, as a call center agent before I think that it contains half truth, most of us who works at the center are not good in Math but we are quite great in English, I just don't know how to explain it but its just a myth that has been going around for ages in my community of friends, what do you think me fellow mylotters? Dou you think that its true or false? and also I have some engineer friends who are really great in Math but not so good in English..Is this some kind of truth or not?

I have seen so many people who are really good at Maths and English. This instance may be a coincidence since you have seen it. It can be a mere coincidence only and nothing else great. It cannot be a truth, it can be a mere coincidence only.

greetings! i'm not sure if this true, if math and english are polar opposites, but i understand everyone has their own set of strong and weak points. i'm not good in both math and english so i guess that's all the proof you need, LOL

Personally, I wouldn't say that this is necessarily true. I'm sure that, for some people, this is the case. However, I also think that there might be some people, who aren't very good in either of these subjects. I think that it really all depends on the person and their strengths.

This is not true. Everybody can be good in Math and English as well. Well maybe, if you are not good in English you cannot be also good in Math since most Math books are written in English. hehehehe..

I think these are totally separate things. We have different parts in our brain to control our oral ability and intelligence for math. There are a lot of people good at both of English and math and there are people just good at one of them.

Hi! People may be good at one thing and perform bad in another. There could be cases where someone is good at English and poor at Math or vice versa. However, I am not sure if there are already studies or researches to prove that there is a relationship between performance in Math and performance in English. I know of some people who can do well both in Math and English. =)

My wife's not good at either. I on the other hand am great at math & have to act as her spell checker. It's a myth with only a little backing. Different people use different parts of their brains. Math is in one section dedicated to logical thinking while English mostly falls into the socialization section. People who are weak in one section often excell in another. However since each section contains lots of different things it might not necessarily be one of your options at all.

Apparently, psychologists have this theory that this has something to do with the right and left side of the brain. Well, all theories can be debunked. Similar to all rules having exceptions. But I'm inclined to think that it's not a a question of being good or not in a particular subject, it's a matter of excelling in one. I believe that proper studying and a bit of perseverance can make everyone good in both Math and English. We are all smart. It's just a matter of how we can bring out that smartness in us :)

I wouldnt say that but it is true that most people are stronger in one area than others. I am good at math and english but I am hopeless when it comes to history for example.

I myself is an example, i am not very good in mathematics and i don't like mathematics at all but i like languages and English is my second language. Îf one claims being good in English it means that the person should be good not only in speaking but also in writing and has a full understanding of the laguage itself. In case of mathematics, i do understand the four fundamentals and quick with simple mental calculations but I am weak with algebra, trigonometry and geometry and other sophisticated mathematics. My grades in college on these subjects are just passing grades. On the other hand, i like English subject very much as a second language and I could say that I am good in this language but of course not perfect as nobody is perfect. A lot of English speaking people and even native speaker speaks wrong English. They say "more better", "repeat again".... you know, those stuffs. They don't know when to use "your" and "you're", "advice" and "advise", "maybe" and "may be", and other correct usage of prepositions.Someone could be a fluent speaker like the native speakers but if analyzed, it is not in accordance with the grammatical structure. Being good in English and Mathematics, I believe, is a wide scope.

No, I think that math and English can actually go hand in hand. I'm an English major, and a HUGE part of being skilled in writing is being able to analyze and get your point across coherently and as clearly as possible... this analytical type of thinking is also a huge part of math too. That's how I am anyway. I prefer English, but if I have to do math, I'm definitely not bad at it. I think this idea applies more with history and sciences. I have one sister that is terrible at english and math, but is very good in history and science.
