What happened to Garth Brooks?

He was such an amazing performer and a great artist. What happened to him. I seldom hear his name mentioned anymore on the radio. Any ideas or knowledge? Just curious.

the last i heard garth brooks has retired its sad he really had some good songs but its hard for his true country songs to keep up with this "country" they call today which is actually more like pop songs instead of country i have it that country has gone this way garth brooks had some of my most favorite songs i love that alot of his songs were about chris ledoux whom i and garth brooks admired greatly even though he is retired his legacy will forever live on

You can go to his official website, garthbrooks.com, to find out what the latest happenings are, however, as far as the basic lowdown goes, he retired back in 2001 so that he could be with his family. He had originally planned to stay retired until his youngest daughter (then five years old) went off to college. He came out of retirement in 2006 as he was offered a deal in Las Vegas (for which he would be able to take a private plane so that he needn't miss a day with his children). He has done a whole series of shows there and has a lot more lined up. He has also performed concerts and at special events elsewhere across the country, but nothing so big as the world tours he was doing before.
The year he came out of retirement, he released "The Lost Sessions," which was an album of songs he'd recorded but never released. Wal-Mart was the force behind this project, and he released it along with a box set.
Again, there is a lot more to Garth's whereabouts and latest happenings than I can contain in this one post. If you'd like to know more, the best place to look is his website. If you want news, go the "dial up" route. As amazing as the scenic route is to look at, the news section is not up to date there.

Thank you for that! I had no idea on any of this information and really appreciate your breakdown. I love that he wanted to be with his children in that capacity. Very admirable. I will look at the website and learn more. Perhaps when I am in Vegas I will find my way to a show. He was such an amazing performer. Made you feel like you were the only one at his concert.

Garth Brooks, the country singer? The only song that sticks to mind is "if tomorrow never comes" which was revived by Ronan Keating.His other songs, i've never heard but he is such a great singer. With some budding artists around, the older ones have to take a backseat but you know with his talent he should be still taking the limelight.I hope he comes out with a new album soon.... :)

He made so many albums in his early career, I often wonder if he burnt himself out from songwriting and performing. I will keep waiting for him to get back in the music scene. There are many songs I love that he has done over the years. I think my favorite is "the dance".
