Refback Offers, What do you think?

I know a lot of you have heard the term before, so I have to ask this: What do you think about Refback offers? Do you like to exchange referrals with others, or do you prefer to make a little extra by being someone's referral who is willing to pay you part of their earnings?

I was thinking of the exact same thing but the other way around. I'm formulating a concept of giving out $2 for a referral to upgrade and $1 reward if they can refer 3 people to join them as upgraded members. Something like that.
