Sometimes you waste more time by working too long on an assignment.

I really should not work on an assignment for more than an hour at a time. Past an hour, frustration tends to set in. Therefore I tend to just waste more time not being able to do the assignment then I would if I had taken a break and went back to the assignment later. Sometimes an assignment that might take a couple of hours could get stretched out to more. Yet, I just have stubbornness in my mind that once I start an assignment, I have to finish it in one sitting, otherwise I lose my train of thought. Still once there is a lot of time being spent, sometimes it is hard to focus and then that might burn up more time.

Think of working on an assignment as a ritual. Sure it gets frustrating, but there are things that you do to get through it. It somehow makes me wonder why women take too long in the bathroom, but I figured I always dawdle long in my paperwork. Not that it matters, of course. Just keep focused, plow through your work, and you'll be alright.

Focus is the key. I think that there are times where people do have their focus drift when time goes on. That is just a part of life and it is just simple human nature when you think about it. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

It never tends to get any easier. There are far too many times where as I get older, I am astonished that I still get slightly frustrated. Yet, I remain stubborn. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

Personally, setting forth to finish an assignment, or any task for that matter, in one sitting is actually a very good way to accomplish a task. And I limit the number of breaks I take. Just enough to get a little rest. Taking multiple breaks would really be wasting more time. Same goes with taking one very long break.

Yep it does tend to be a good idea most of the time. Once you get going, it might be hard to pick back up later. Even though there might be a good idea that I most likely should take a break, still I push on, hoping that I'll get everything done in a short manner. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

I think by an assignment we can do many works within time. I am totally different on your view. If we do not made any assignment the work will be very hard. I think every body should make an assignment.

i agree exactly with what you said. when an assigment takes me a long time, it gets frustrating. but once i start i want to finish to get it over with. i should probably just take a break every hour so that i don't go frustrated, but then i probably won't work on it again.

It does take me a few minutes to really get going on an assignment, to really get me thinking. Therefore I think the not stopping thing is not wanting my brain to cool down. Still that is no reason to get frustrated. And there are times where this happens when I have plenty of time, but I do like getting done as soon as possible(while getting a good grade of course), so I have plenty of time to relax. Still business first. Thank you for your response. It is most appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

I am the exact same way. I usually have to work on two or three different assignments at a time. If I get stuck on my math homework, I will usually start studying history instead. Once I get tired of that, I will work on Physics and so on... Researchers do say that you should take short study breaks every hour or so. I just have to be careful not to let those breaks turn into hours of free time.
