How do you keep up a discussion?

Hi did you noticed that when you start a new discussion it always appears on the top of the first page in the topic that you discuss. So at first it get's a lot of answers especially if it's an interesting one but it needs some time to pass and almost nobody answers on it anymore because more discussions were opened from then and you're one gets pushed on other pages like 7th 10th.And people check a representative topic and usually answer on the newly opened discussions because those are what they see at first and they don't check other pages. So until you're discussion is on the 1st-4th page it's okay but after then it just dies. So you're in the same situation or what can i do about this?

If you tag your topic correctly, it will appear in the column 'similar topics' on the right of discussions thathave the same tags. Every time that it receives new activity it will appear at the top of that column and also at the top of the 'recent' tab. Just keep it moving

I really agree with you dude... for the same reason I sometimes check my favorite interest for the discussion topic. So that I can give some response there... I think we all should do like that...then the discussion will be longer and more user can participate in it. nice topic dude...

Hey why not poke about a bit. Look how many tabs there are where your discussion will be seen if you keep it active. Recent, hot and top tabs above plus, if the tags are correct. the 'similar topics' column over there ---

I don't think we can do anything with it. When it appears interesting to people, then you will get a bunch of responses in a short time but there are a lot of mylotters are using at the same time so new discussions just keep popping. I think in order to keep up the discussions, we can only make the discussions interesting.

Well yeah this is an another way to keep a discussion alive..make it very interesting and it will attract more people. But whenever your discussion is interesting or not new discussions will keep popping up in the topic and your discussion get's pushed on other pages so it can't be seen at first and just those find you're discussion who scrolls a few pages back.

Hello friend, i understand what you mean... For me it's not important how many people join my discussions, i feel good when i can read and share opinions with the people who decided to participate with me and what's most important for all of us is to have fun today. As MysD said earlier - there are other sections, where you can find even not so fresh (soon posted) topics, but still good. What is pissing me off a bit is when in one section some members post more than one or two discussions in a row. Too much people around, it's impossible all of them to be our friends and to receive notifications about out discussions, may be if we go on next pages we loose the chance to receive respond from someone, who would be interested to participate in our discussion, but still .. it's not so big deal.

Yes you're right, many time i see 2 or 3 discussions in a row from the same user but once i saw abut 4-5 discussion in a row from the same user in a certain topic.I'm not absolutely sure about the numbers but there was quite many discussions in a row.

I believe that if it is a topic that interests a member of my lot, he or she would continue on the discussing it with you. At first, I was also having a hard time keeping track of the discussions I started, then I got the idea of using my email as like an updater. So every time I open mylot, I also open my email to be guided on what is happening to my posts. Or maybe the situation is like this. Maybe the new users especially of mylot are not organizing their profile well. They should really spend some time editing their interests so that when a user submits a discussion that may interest them, it would show up in their profile.

Yes i do the same way just like you,it's much more easy to track discussion if you enable e-mail notifications because you're always up to date and you can return to your discussion very quickly.

Wow. We think alike. Thats good to know. Yeah. We do really need to keep track of our discussions. It is always nice to keep a conversation to someone who share something in common with. Things just needed to be talked about. This is a release.
