Should we pray for those who have died?

When the question was asked by a leader of worship, spontaneous one in attendance to answer, it is necessary because the dead can not pray alone again. Of course this is not the answer. Perhaps one reason the more appropriate is that we pray for those who have died because we love him (whoever he or they). Thus we can prayer as an expression of gratitude when the deceased had received his side, but also as a request for forgiveness when we pray still have the burden of guilt and sin.
