Do we really own our home? If so how come if we don't pay taxes for 3 years we could get kicked out? We don't pay taxes on food or clothes every year. Just cars and homes. Why?

This is something I have been wondering about recently as well. I personally do not agree with taxation on anything that we have already purchased. I understand that the goverment has to have money to run, that is a given, however the ammount that they take away from our pockets is a bit ridiculous. People often try to say that the goverment has more debts than they actually have, they try to site medical bills thath ave to be paid for. I know that I personally have never had one medical bill paid for by the U.S overment, my employer pays part of my premium and I am left to pick up the rest. So let I see where all the goverment takes from. Income taxes (state and federal), some states charge food tax, most states charge at least 8-15% tax on all items (cloths, electronics, etc), registering a vehicle could be seen as a form of tax, property tax, etc. So pretty much everything that we do is taxed, yes the goverment requires taxes, but does every single congress memeber deserve to be making 124K a year when they do not even show up for work every day? Do these same 300+ congress memebers deserve to have their healthcare provided for them every single day for the rest of their lives, especially when there are homeless people dying everyday from lack of medical care? In the United States the upper 1% of people get everything while the rest of us struggle day in and day out just to survive. I am considered middle class (if you can consider 24K a year middle class) and even I struggle from month to month to pay my bills. I can not even imagine these people who work for minimum wage tring to get by.
