Hi friends, I have been to a govt. office yesterday and could see similar system of long wait and officials doing their job in their own way. Before going to office I discussed with my agent that by now system must have changed for good and we will not face any hurdle there but when I actually got in and saw the working style could not believe that we are still same. Now they have everything computerized and that makes their work easier and should take less time so the efficiency and processing of records should be much more fast but that is not there. when will they change? What is your experience with govt. offices?

Oh yeah, faster....only to have more time on Messenger & Facebooking, haha!~I remember I saw that someone took a photo of a government officer facebook-ing & circulated it in emails & Facebook - yes, that's how efficient they are.And the lamest excuse for their laziness - system down, come back tomorrow!~ And that comment came from a postman who've seen how those clerks / teller work when in actual fact the system was not down

They won't change because they doesn't deserve their job . They at those place because of the reservation and not for their education or knowledge. The 99% of govt employees are corrupt and who is honest can't stay at a place for longer period.

reservation is again something that no one is going to change. Every govt will extend that just for their own benefit. Thank You for sharing.

The term "What do you expect? It's a government office" is a very familiar one in my place and probably everywhere in our country. The problem is not with the system but the people running it. There is lack of enforcement of laws, regulations, and discipline and sense of professionalism. This disease have grown and became a cancer in our government system, incurable and fatal. The dream of development have remained a dream and so I quote this "when I was a child our country is a developing country, more than 15 years later and it is still a developing country".

very True but I thought that may be they have changed as many things have changed in life for good. I hope that it will become a developed nation before I take last breath but that does not seem to happen with all these corrupt politicians . Thank You for sharing.

Hate it hate it hate it. All the government offices that I have seen are the same. Paper stacked everywhere (you should see the Customs office in New Delhi airport - third floor, two rooms full of paper work tied together). And the worst of it is, no one wants to take responsibility. That's why, even for the most simple thing, one needs to get signature and rubber stamp from 4 or 5 different officers. In my opinion, all these signatures just meant that no one wants to take the responsibility. That is, if something goes wrong, they could blame the other person. Even if it falls under their authority, they can not stand by their order or their words. It is pathetic really. When I needed 'Exit Permit' for my daughter, jeez....I had to spend 3 days just going from one so called 'Officer' to the other just to get their signature and rubber stamp. First I had to go to Foreigners Registration Office, from there I was sent to Secretariat and then back to the FRO. The FRO actually have the authority to grant that!!Covering their A$$e$!!!
