Me, when I was a kid i always wanted to be an engineer. But as I grew up that dream started to fade away. I want to know if there are people her in mylot who fulfilled their childhood dream and are living the dreams now. How does it feel??

I wanted to be a doctor but I ended up being a nurse. LOL It's because nursing was in demand that's why I took the course.

When I was a young child I dreamed of traveling the world. I had a globe and knew the Equator, Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn. I knew many of the countries names and dreamed of visiting lots of these and others I didn't know about at that time. As a teenager I began traveling by saving money from a paper round I got at age 13 and a Saturday job I had at age 16. I was able to go to Greece when I was 14 years old, to the Netherlands at age 17 and then got a job in Finland when I was 18 years old. I used money from this to travel around Europe by train. I bought a cottage when I was 19 years old and did trips to France, Tunisia and St Lucia. I worked for a ship brokers for two years but then I was made redundant. I let out my cottage, got a working holiday visa for Australia and bought an airline ticket for a journey around the world. Since then I have visited lots more countries so I have achieved my dream.

Like the others said..WOW. What a inspiration you could be to the young ones. Can I suggest you write about your experiences and how you got there, for young ones. It's just wonderful how you set your mind to something and achieved it. Best of luck in all of your adventures..but I think you made your own luck which many can't do .

Wow that is really very impressive. The first time I traveled alone was when I was 17 and it was scary as hell. But you did that when you were 14??? And all the activities you did are praiseworthy. Good luck for the future :)

I always wanted to be a teacher, and at times still miss not going ahead and being able to fulfill that dream. But for me I had a hard time in school so could never make that a reality. Another one is to own my Own business and be successful with it. Over the yrs, I have been working on that, and find myself getting closer to having that Dream a definate reality someday.

When I was a child I had a very peculiar kind of mentality. I wonder now if that's normal at all. When I read about an astronaut I wanted to be one. If I saw a picture of a hunter I would almost immediately imagine myself as a hunter. Sometimes I wanted to be a photographer. When I was a child I wanted to be many things. But I never thought that I would end up as an Engineer. From a child's point of view this may seem interesting. However, I see nothing in engineering that can amuse an infant of that age. I also wanted to be a farmer because I loved to run wild in the field. I wished I could be the courier, as they could travel many places for free. All those dreams remained unfulfilled. Sometimes, however, I think I have a little bit of all those things in me.

When I was little, I wanted to be a doctor because that was what everybody was telling me about. Being a doctor was like the best profession on earth. As I grew up, however, I started to show a different interest. I helped my cousins during exam days. I made them reviewers and mock tests, so when I look back now, I realize that indeed, I had the 'calling' to be an educator, which I am now.

My parents wanted me to be a doctor too but I din't have the slight interest in it. Wow that's a really nice profession you hold there. I never had the patience to teach anything to anyone.

when i was a child, i wanted to be a seafarer. when i was in college, i took the course Marine Transportation. I was not able to finish my studies due to financial incapability. Then I applied for a job abroad, I did not pass for I failed the psychology exam. the result of my exam says that i will not be able to cope living away or abroad. it made me realize that it was about being homesick, when i was little, my sisters and cousins and i would take a vacation 10 miles away from our home. but in a day or two, i would ask my aunt to bring me home for i miss my family.

TBH I really don't remember what I wanted to be as a child. My first very clear memory was when I was about 13 or 14 I wanted to be a child advocate or family law attorney. I look back on that now and have no idea why; what I wanted to accomplish in doing that. It didn't matter, really, because in about three or four months after that I wanted to be an FBI profiler. So my "dreams" changed pretty regularly. Probably the closest thing I had to a real dream that lasted through most of my life was to be a writer, although when I was a kid, I didn't know that was a career possibility. Now I'm kind of living that... I'm a freelance contributor for Associated Content/Yahoo, writing for peanuts every month. :/ But it's writing and paid writing so I guess it's kind of like living my dream.

When I was a kid, I used to always want to be a top model hahaha. Because I am very tall and have a model figure, I always thought I had potential to be a model but of course it didn't come true, I ended up to be somebody's wife It would be nice to do model part time though these days to help financially for home and I could have fun with modelling.

Im not living the dream i had as a child. Growing up i was in dance and when growing up i always stated i wanted to be a Dance Teacher and nope that didnt happen. I always wanted to own my own studio and teach dance and live my dream but since i dont have money to start my dance studio im stuck working for a construction office 4 to 3 days a week. I wish i could work more but the economy has put a damper on that for me and when business picks up here i work more hours but until then i am stuck trying to pay my bills and pay for my vacation this year wtih my family. Life is hard and not easy but my boyfriend is starting his own business and we are starting on that today and i am excited about that even though i know its hard but i know we can also do it in the end.

Yes you can definitely do it :D Good luck with the starting of the new business. I'm having a terrible time trying to choose a path, as I have 3 options. Hope I don't make a choice I'll regret later. Have a good day.

I sadly enough did not fulfill my child hood dream to be a nurse. But, it was because when I got older, I not only realized that I can't handle blood, but I am terrified of needles. I had this vision of me being a nurse and helping people during their sick times, I never thought about what that all included , but as a child how could you really know?

We had a yearbook in grade school, and I put in there that I wanted to be a doctor in the future. Nope, I did not turn out as I dreamed about. I cringe at the sight of blood!

goodness....when i was a kid, i wanted to be so many things such as being a business woman because i taught my mom was. turns out she was just an employee who went to work everyday...lol. a friend of mine with whom i recently rekindled a friendship with, thanks to facebook, told me that i told her i wanted to be a secretary.i don't even remember that - hello, we were in kindergarten. all i know was that i dreamed of becoming so many things back then - and now, it has become a reality - i am officially a dreamer as of this time! =D
