Give full attention in class.

I always believe that we should give full attention while we are in the class when the teacher is teaching. Some students I can see that their minds are not in the class. Only their bodies are in the class. How I wish that they soon will realize that if they focus and follow attentively the lesson being taught they will have less revision to do after that because we already know and understand the lesson while it is being taught. At the same time, if we do not understand the lesson we can seek clarification from the teacher instead of assuming we do understand but in actual fact we don't. What is your opinion about giving full attention in class is better than daydreaming in the class?

Everything is correct upto u but you are doing a mistake in your words " I wish that they soon will realize". Why you are wishing so, instead of that you can inform them to pay attention in class. Your point is correct but your way of approach is definitely wrong.

I am so grateful you point my mistake. Yes, there are times after you have been telling them to buck up put there are still no changes, the last thing I wish and pray in my heart is that how I wish that they soon will realize it. But once again thank you for your reply.

If only your teachers could see this. I agree absolutely, I'm in law school with a class of more than a thousand people. Sometimes there isn't even enough room in the class because they underestimated the amount of people that would come to class (law school, half of the people bail) but on rare occasions when people show up, they come to class late and disrupt the class, talk through it, sleep, play on their laptops. You care enough to say that those people needed to pay attention for their own futures, but when they just come to class to destroy your future along with theirs then. On that note, some people might have an epileptic disorder called absence seizures, which look like daydreaming but your brain is temporarily short circuiting. I have it, its a real itch, but the medication makes you fall asleep. Two evils.

I fully agree with you dear Alokijon. One should pay full attention in the class, which really helps to create interest in the concern subject. Simply attending the class mechanically won't serve the purpose of learning! When I was in school I was no good student, one of the reason was I was less attentive and this use to make my subjects tough to me and because of this I used to get lag behind in the class. Till the ninth standard I was like this only, but after becoming bit serious in tenth standard I manged to get first class which has created interest in my studies. There after I have become a sincere and attentive student. During my eleventh and twelfth standard I used to be very attentive in the class and I used to interact with the teachers by answering their questions and also getting my difficulties clear from them. I used to take class notes and after coming to home I used to fair them as my reference notes which I used to study for my examinations. This has helped me a lot. I recall my cousin has taken my notes pertaining to my twelfth class when I have already passed my twelfth class as he entered twelfth class then and he is now Pediatric Surgeon working in US! Now after coming to Veterinary college, believe me I used to each and every word uttered by my professors including the comments about the topics and I used to make final notes after going to my home. This exercise used to make my 80% preparation for my examination as I used to have a clear cut understanding of the subject as I used to rewrite my rough notes into fair ones! This habit of mine has helped me lot and I am still very attentive at this age of 50 when I need to pay attention to any new topic of learning in my life! I used to get really wondered how can one get sleep in the class or how can one day dream in the class once I entered the college as I was very attentive and sincere and this thing has paid me rich dividends in my life and today what ever I am it is all just because of this only as we never had text books like today which could be purchased and referred just before the examination! Thanks friend for such a nice topic,I enjoyed replying it and you made me nostalgic!

as a teacher, i realize that... many of my students did not focus when i teach them like you said that, their body is in class but their mind is outside the class.

We only hurt ourselves when we don't pay attention in class. If we miss something vital in the lesson the teacher is presenting, we might be missing out on whole point. if we miss enough ny not paying attention, we might be lost to the rest of the class.

I am at University at the moment, and I see so many people attending lectures but not paying the slightest bit of attention to what the lecturer is saying. I don't see the point of spending that much money on an education when you're just going to go into the class and not pay any attention to what is being taught. I spend £3000 per year on my education, so I always make the most of it when I get there.

I think daydreaming is wrong during class. You'll not learning anything if you're just gonna daydream whenever the teacher is pouring her heart out in front of you.

I agree with you. There is no point you present in class but your mind is not there. Many universities in my country stipulates that students who number less than 75% attendance can not take the test, which means that they must repeat the semester. And I think that's totally ineffective, what good is present in the classroom but do not pay attention to the lesson? Is not it better to understand the lesson even if not present. But the most perfect is present in class and pay attention.

As a university student, i totally agree with u. Daydreaming during class times is one of the worst things u cud do. You cud miss out on some important tips and points given out by the teacher. Such things u may not find in books or on the internet. Though if the teacher's teaching method is boring, u cud ask for a 1 or 2 min break to refresh ur mind. I'm sure the teacher wud gladly give u the break as it gives u time to reflect and absorb wht has been taught. Awesome discussion topic! :)

i always pay attention to the teacher in the class. It so important to us as a student that need much much thing to learn. Acyually im not the best one in the class, even maybe i'm the worst in the class, but it never stop me to pay attention on it. Even for you that think that you are the smartest in the class, never stop to pay your attention because there always something that we can learn from studying.

I agree with you. Some of the students only their bodies in the class and their minds are fly away. And only few student will pay full attention in the class. For my opinion, i strongly agree that pay full attention in the class when teacher are teaching. I don't want to waste money to outside tuition.

well as we all know giving full attention in classes is one of the main key factor that affect our studying output but why many student fails to do so.first of all, is the teaching method of the teachers as most of the younger student nowadays grew up in a environment that pack by technologies so they tend to give more attention if the teacher teach using visual added effect like video as we can see you tube also become a main source of info for student .secondly is the communication channel , teacher must build a two way communication with the student and make sure student participate in the teaching to make sure student really understand the information delivered. but giving full attention is not the only way for student to achieve excellent result, they must also have high self motivation and plan the timetable.
