That's the only perception i have to what this Former Gen. Reyes Did. I don't feel nor want to have condolence on him except his family. He's a General, when he is supposed to be the highest form of Moral among the military, he turned in to rich and power, which is too bad. probably he couldn't take it because the exposure is spreading over and over again There is no remorse for me because THOSE WHO ARE HONEST and alive Soldiers (both retired and enlisted) of the lower ranks are suffering. at least they are MAN ENOUGH to face their tough lives and DOESN'T COMMIT suicide. Frankly, The Ex Generals doesn't deserve to be called one and instead MILITARY CRIMINALS. In my view, it's the Soldier who is supposed to be a real example after Government Officials.

A general is supposed to be a real man, A real man can face all hurdles and failures with his head up high, I real man doesn't give up with his life. So what he did is just a form of cowardice. I dont know if I'm allowed to judge him but I was shocked with the news, I had stopped watching news in the last few weeks because I'm busy and I'm trying to enjoy my life.

yeah, i guess that is the best way out. but believe me when people are really on their lowest point... it would be, of course one of the things that would come into your mind as a solution... of course he is a public figure.. someone who has to face the consequences of his actions... i would like to hope that he knows better than this... he's absolutely left the country and his family stunned of this... why and how and what made him do this is a big puzzle!

Hello Chiyosan, What is he depressed about? He's got family, money and if there was ever a threat, he should have come out and asked for security and tell the truth instead.there are still two generals that still needs some exposure though but they refused to answer their allegations, but am sure not only his negligence but also his depression that lead him to this. Have a nice day.

Perhaps he thought of it as an act of defiance...

but from his perspective, he's taken himself beyond their power to punish him....

If our traditions it is actually true. But for some cultures it is honorable. It would entirely depend on which culture you may be basing your opinion from.

Hello Jacobus, I am not sure how culture gotten into his act but I know he did his job as a father and a husband to his family. But what about for the country? I know he had some victories, but how come he had to make this happen? Now we are all guessing who made him do it and who is this more powerful person.

Sad but true and unfortunate as they are suppose to be our leaders who are suppose to be a good example to the children or our future.

Or we should say, you want to escape from the shame. I learned it earlier in Yahoo and I know instantly why he did it. HOw about Garcia and Ligot? they want to try?

LetranKnight25, I remember an old adage which goes: "The higher you climb, the harder you fall" and Reyes just have too much to loose here. So much for Valor, Integrity and Duty.

hi LK, its the shame that made him do it. ashamed that his family had to bear all the pain on his abuses. he never knew the dark secret in the military will be brought out to light. be that as it may, we hope that justice be served to those who have abused their authorities as leaders of our nation. and we hope that when the monies are taken back, that the new government give it to the people who deserves to receive it. give salary increases, more benefits for the soldiers, enough military hardware. thank you for this discussion. ann
