I am not going to sit here, and I say attend church because I don't, however I make a point to read the churches billboards. I love the one line inspirations they put on them. Sometimes, it is just what I needed to hear for that day. However, it was this statement that really stuck in my head, and it really rings so true, but I think we forget that it is not what we have in life that counts.

In other words materialism can only give you a limited amount of pleasure. The greatest pleasure of life is in spirituality. Immediately after breaking up with my ex I was having a really tough time. I was feeling terrible, hopeless. I didn't know what to do, I was so numb with pain. Then I tried to find a way to lift this burden off my chest. I tried so many things. I smoked, drank, spent time with girls. I was trying to get back the comfort and peace that I lost in my way of looking for it. I tried in vain. They couldn't give me any pleasure at all. Instead, they aggravated my pain. Then I started taking interest in spirituality. I started meditation. I started reading books for spiritual improvement. Slowly everything started to make sense. It felt like I suddenly discovered myself. During meditation I felt as if I am meeting with myself for the first time in my life. It's such a pleasant experience. I was looking for happiness in 'things', but I found happiness in a place I least expected. I found it within myself.

And I do beleive it is a very "limited", if not for only a mere hour or so , then you are back feeling like you need more. I enjoyed your story, it is a pure example of the meaning of the statement. I hated to hear about your break up, but as you can see, something much more greater and wonderful came out of it. It's true..everything happens for a reason ! I will admit I need to get back on my track to spirituality, I have fled off path and boy I can tell a difference in all aspects of my life. So thank you for the reminder, and thank for sharing your story. Have a wonderful day.

The best things in life are landscapes and wildlife. Mother Nature so very beautiful. Some of the people on My Lot can enjoy swimming in the ocean. Others of them live somewhere there is snow on the ground right now. Seeing different places in the world delights me. Possessions are not as special as the outdoors world I think. It is lovely that you like to read the one line inspirations at your local church Sunshine 37.
