DeDRUG ADDICTION IS KILLING MY FRIEND

Ive discussed my friend once before. He has stopped taking heroin about four months ago and was doing so much better. He had informed me his doctor had given him one more detox of methadone 60 ml per day and six diazepam (10 mg), or blues, valium as there also also known on the street. So i thought he was doing so well and sunday last he tells me hes b een taking these blues as well every day. After we argued he said that was eneough and he wouldnt take anymore. Tonight his partner rang me to come see him when i got there he had taken a seizure (a lack of drugs fit) well i felt bad he had a huge lump on his head it was becuse he hadnt taken any since sunday (over 48 hrs) and it made him take this seizure. At least i know he wont have any more not unless he takes drugs again. I wonder am i really better keeping out of his life its his life maybe i should just let him lead it. What do you think i should do, he could end up dead if im not there for him...

Hi jasper, Your friend is trying to kick the habit but the system is too dependent that it seems to have a mind of its own. It takes superhuman willpower to combat something that has taken hold of the mind and it cannot be done alone. You may be his last hope to be free from that bondage.

At first I thought the title sounded funny and was probably a typo but after reading more I got the point. I think that your friend needs all the help he can get and that includes you. Leaving him would really be bad for him. Doctors prescription should be followed as they know better whats good for him. Perhaps more advise from experts should be asked for this situation. Good luck to you and your friend.

Well I hope that he can truly get clean as that would be the best thing for him. I understand what you are going through as I went through the same thing with my ex. He kept taking to many xanax and then one day he took a whole bottle of them and wound up in rehab but while in rehab due to taking a huge amount of xanax and then just quitting cold turkey he had a baz seizure. His heart stopped and they had a really hard time getting him going again. You'd think he would have learned his lesson but he didnt he moved on to heroin after that.
