Guys, if you have tried answering stuff in Yahoo! answers.. do you find it quite similar to My Lot? Well, I think so but difference of course is that My Lot pays us for the knowledge/comments that we impart to co-My Lotters. Say what? :)

There is a huge difference between the two sites (apart from the economic one obviously). Yahoo Answers is for questions and answers while myLot is for discussions. Those who spend their time here on myLot posting questions and responding on other topics are not going to see any benefits in their earnings like those who spend their time here discussing. That is what we earn for on myLot, not for 'posting questions and responses'. For this reason I do not see the similarity.

I do not want to duplicate so I will comment here as I too feel there is a grand difference as in yahoo answers there is no continual discussing and in my opinion all the answers posted are simply opinions and not a discussion. I have seen several posted questions on yahoo and none of them are really sequential "back and forth" discussions. It seems members post a question and someone answers and that is the end of that. Am I wrong?

Agreed! Yahoo! Answer is more like post-it notes site rather than discussion...You post a discussion, wait for several days to see if someone answers your questions, and if not just abandon it altogether ...It is nothing more...

Whoa!! Haha! You guys okay? Kidding aside, yes I agree for that point as well. There's really no continuous interaction between the poster and the readers/ those who comment. Unlike here in myLot, I am surprised at times when a previous poster comments and answers me back. :)

I used to be an active participant at Yahoo! Answers. I always provide answers to questions there. However, I got suspended on 2 different accounts. I admit I have violated rules with my first suspension for posting links. But I can't understand why I was suspended on my second account. I was able to contest some so-called violations but it seems like there's a member who kept reporting me over and over again. When I failed to respond to a 'so-called' violation, I got suspended on my 2nd account. Well, it's their loss. And it's MyLot's gain.

Oh, I didnt know that they actually terminate accounts there, what is your violation? For the second one, maybe they have created a new rule that you were unaware of. Yes, My Lot is better IMO. :)

@staria, it's easy to report anyone at Yahoo! Answers. even if the person didn't violate any rules, they'll be given an automatic warning. And you have to respond in order for a moderator to actually review the violation because they really don't review reports until the one who was reported contest it. @BrightSky, I was trying to create backlinks to my site before since you are allowed to include your resource site whenever you answer a question. As long as I stay on topics related to the content of my site, I was able to post my links.

@yallit, oh bad mods there huh?! Why dont they review the reported violation first to show some credibility and so that they will be able to perform as moderators?? @BrightSky, IMO, I enjoyed answering Yahoo! answers discussions because I am really fond of answering stuff and all, but that was way back, I think years ago? I soon got tired of it and I just learned about myLot for like a week ago? :)

Yea, they are sort of alike but not quite, I think there is more questions and answers on Yahoo!; mylot has more discussions. Besides, of course mylot pays us but Yahoo! doesn't, there is the main point.

Hello Staria, My perception about Yahoo answers is that it is a cold place, when people don't interact with each other. They ask a question and then leave it. The same with the respondents. They post a response and... that's it! What I mostly enjoy about myLot is that here you can discuss a subject for how long do you want. You can always ask for details if you feel that your matter wasn't solved from the first response. Here, users interact with each other. It happened many times to me to enter a discussion and to end up as a friend of the discussion starter. I'm afraid this is a thing you won't see in Yahoo Answers.

There are people who are only after the money, too, but you will soon find out how to keep yourself away of them. You will learn how to be surrounded only by people who enjoy myLot for discussing, not only for money. Take care because if you started to love myLot, you are in danger of becoming myLot addicted.

To be honest, money comes in 2nd for me. But yes it matters at the end of the day as well. :) I really enjoyed commenting to every discussion here, and the best thing is you get to discuss your interests w/ other people that has the same.

Yes I actually think that it is possible to gain genuine friendship here in myLot. I was quite surprise (during my 1st week) to see serious postings here, as I thought people just post anything for money. But I guess I am wrong. And I am now loving myLotting :)

I've seen Yahoo Answers before. It's very similar to the process here in mylot where you have to choose a best response. But I'm not a user of yahoo answers, I just search for answers there.

Hi there! If you want to check it out, secure a Yahoo! ID then you are good to join their discussion. There's no harm in trying, IMO only :)

Hi there! You might want to check it out too! Topics were actually visible in search engines too, just like MyLot. You just have to have your Yahoo! ID and you are good to go :) But better stay here though, for added reasons stated by our friends above :)

I don't understand why people use Yahoo! Answers, I even asked my daughter why she does this, but I guess she figured Yahoo would know more or something. She is one of my referrals here, but only made one post, and this was before she started using Yahoo. Maybe someone said something she didn't like, because I know it wasn't because she didn't think money could be earned here, she knows my first year I used mylot earnings to help pay for gifts that holiday season, most were for her..

You know, now that I think about it, she doesn't post on Yahoo often, maybe only once or twice in the last two years..So maybe that is why, she wouldn't make it here...

Hi, I dont see any reason why she would refuse to use My Lot too. But maybe she was able to gain some good friends there in Yahoo! answers that's why she spends more time discussing things there than here in MyLot. Well, that's only IMO :)

Just in the past week I went back to ask a question that was not answered here on Mylot. It was regarding resins. I was trying to find a non-toxic resin. The only person who answered told me about the 2 different types, and if I wanted to use resin for casting to go with a polyester resin that I know is the most toxic of all! Then she gave herself best answer.......... If it was not the only answer, maybe I would not be so perturbed.

wanna know how I get involved with Mylot, I got banned at Yahoo answers, In yahoo answers jealous people reports a person who is not doing any violations because of jealousy. Their admins are bots so whether you did something wrong or not, if you are reported 3 times, your banned. That place sucks. I wasted 4 years in that place. I should have registered in mylot from the get go. In mylot you dont really ask questions, you can do ranting and commentaries and you have to respond to people who participated in your discussions. You can make long conversations with people.

Yes , plus people are not allowed to make multiple accounts, In yahoo answers your hater can make multiple accounts to report you so you will be deleted. That is something that will never happen in mylot because the mods here are humans.

Oh, thanks for the info I am really not aware that their mods are bots! Bad for them. Well I think here in myLot you cannot report any user for no reason at all right, and rating them negative would also mean negative rating on your part is that correct?

Yes, Yahoo! has it. It's actually works the same as myLot, a member posts a discussion thread, then people answer him/her. Yeah, agree. If you can earn while sharing your comments why not! :)
