Would you want to be able to see the future?

In schools, I'm reading a book called Slaughter-House Five which has aliens that can see in 4-D and they can see the past, present, and future. In a discussion at school, we questioned whether we would want to see the future or not. I think that seeing the future would just ruin the surprises of life even though it might be fun at first. It would be like finding out what presents you're going to get before your birthday. It would be cool to know if you got what you wanted, but you wouldn't have that surprised feeling. So what do you guys think? Would you want to see the future?

I would like to see what will happen in the future, but I am afraid as it might turn out that there are going to be many difficulties in the days to come. One might get discouraged and stop enjoying the present, waiting for the gloomy day to come. It would be nice if future visions could inspire one to live the life to the fullest if there are happy days predicted.

I think so...maybe yes and no. I want to see the future so I can help my loved ones or any person for that matter, if I see in the future that they will be in an accident or even die. But I don't want to mess with fate either, or destiny, God's will or whatever supernatural thing...So maybe no too for seeing the future.

I don't think so. I feel preocupied sometimes and I would hate to be even more, lol. I escaped from a dangerous situation once or twice because I actually felt something was about to happen, but that is intuition and that's more than enough.

Future is on God's hand. We cannot predict the future. Our life is lying on God's hand. If the past , we cannot turn back. The same as through with the future, we cannot jump forward to the future. Because in this moment of our life. The only thing you can control and seen is the "PRESENT" that God gave us the freedom to choose. So every moment of our life is "UNIQUE" and every moment of our life lets do "GOOD THINGS!" because. We cannot turn back to the past nor we cannot jump into future. There are no way, we are all creatures including the earth and the whole universe.

I think if you could see the future it would be presented in a way that you wouldn't know its the future until you saw it again later in real life. Or in present time. Sometimes the feeling of "Deja Vu" is described as something you have seen from the future and are seeing for the second time, as if you were already there. I also think if you are perceptive enough that you can determine future events with a vision in mind. Many people make business decisions everyday with foresight in mind.

I think I would like to see parts of the future. Maybe like seeing the lottery ticket numbers would be nice. Still I want to see the future to see if I had made the correct choices and is living the way I want to live.

No I don't think I would like to know what was to happen in the future, it would take the surprise out of life plus there would be times that you would dread happening...although I have often thought I would be good in a strange way to know when my last would be so I could get all my affairs in order and have a big party and give all my treasures away..

I am the person who fast forwards through movies, reads the ending of books and looks for spoilers on the reality shows. So, I would have to say YES I would love to see what the future has in store for me. I would love to see where technology is going and what things will be like 50 years from now . Oh and by the way I sneak peeks a t my birthday presents and my Christmas presents lol

I can't see how that would be possible as "future" is not something already written and unavoidable. And no, seeing in the future would not be very fun. But changing the past, now that would be interesting...

No way. I am too scared to do so eg. to see myself in suffering position or accident. I only want my financial to be secure so I can plan for my future.

Hi cottonkendi! I don't want to see what my future would be. Life won't be surprising if I know what will happen tomorrow, the next day, the next next day, and the next few years. I want my life to be exciting that everyday is full of excitement and unexpected events. I would just be hurt if I see something that I don't want to happen in the future so its better that I don't know about it. :)

...Hi cottenkendi, Welcome to the ranch, enjoy yourself. I don't think that I would want to know. Because if it was something bad like someone close dying or something of that nature that would mean that I would get depressed and then when it actually happened I would get depressed again and that sets up double stress. If it was something good, I would lose the surprise effect, so I think that I would want things to just be unveiled on a day by day basis. Interesting topic. Take care.

No way! Life is full of surprises, fun and yes even disappointments. That is how we learn not only about ourselves but others as well. Sometime even those disappointments can lead to something awesome down the road. I would rather keep leaving it in God's Hands and see what He has in store for me. Like that classic song by Garth Brooks The Dance says I could have missed the pain but I would have had to miss The Dance. I wouldn't want to miss The Dance for anything. You see in the future and change something it may not turn out the way you want. Life is a roller coaster full of ups and downs get on and enjoy the ride. Great question and fun to debate.

I don't know if I would want to see everything in the future. I think that I wouldn't mind seeing something, but not everything. I think that seeing everything might not make it as pleasant.

It would be so awesome to be able to see the future I was watching a movie called Back to the Future I, II & III recently. It is a 80's movie talking about a scientist invented a time machine and use it to travel the time, go to the future and come back from the future. That made me dreaming about what if I would be able to see the future, it would be so nice, I would liek to see what I am gonna be like and where in 10 years or vice versa.

I think I would have to pass on that, seeing the good times to come might ruin the surprise and if you would of told me some of the things that I'd have to go through in life, I think it would of overwhelmed me and stressed me out. I think I am content living day to day, week by week and year by year just hoping and planning for my future.
