Mum Is So Funny..Again!

It's great having Mum around because I witness daft things she does for myself lol. Earlier I stayed in the car as Mum and John went into B&Q which is a national chain of DIY stores that ALL look the same inside and out! Mum knows this but she still asked a shop assistant "where are your tomato growbags?" and the reply was, "they're outside" to which Mum exclaimed, "No, they're NOT!" According to John, Mum thought the shop assistant meant outside as in the front of the shop but ALL B&Q stores have a seperate gardening section. This is what the shop assistant meant. The next place we went to was another garden centre that we have visited before. It, too, has plants outside and other stuff inside, including seeds. As soon as Mum entered the large shop she went straight to the counter on her right and said, "Excuse me, where are your seeds?" Now, this wouldn't normally be funny but if she'd just turned LEFT there were a wall of seeds right there in all their glory lol. The lady behind the counter just pointed, Mum looked where she was pointing and went, "Oh!" Hahaha! The best incident came last. After the shopping we visited a pub that sells food. Again, we've been there before and I went to the toilet before settling down to order food. After the food Mum asked me where the toilets were and I said, "Just follow the bar round and it's the first door you come to." What did she do? WALK STRAIGHT ON! She also thought the snooker players looked a bit weird in the distance "like they're suspended in mid air." I laughed and said, "Have you seen the stairs leading up to the snooker table?" "Er, no!" Hahaha! I think she needs her eyes testing!

Oh, she sounds so silly, but it is good to hear how happy you are when she visits you. I hope you got lots of things to grow and had a wonderful meal.

The meal was ace..but sooo much of it! On Saturday Mum prepared us a cheese and egg flan. She'd already done the pastry so it was just a case of adding the cheese, etc and cooking the whold thing in the oven. Honestly, it was AWESOME! How I love my Mum's cooking. John felt guilty about her being in the kitchen but she didn't mind as my Dad "eats like a bird" so she loves the fact her food gets eaten here and no-one moans about it.

Your Mum sounds like a hoot and fun to be around. When is she going back? Are you going to have some time to spend together? I plan to spend some time tomorrow with my Mom...I spent most of yesterday with her...doing her taxes. But I still try and get in to town as often as I can to spend time with her. My Mom's a lot of fun, too.

Glad your Dad's ok. That could have been awful. Yeah, I have to get ready now to go in and see Mom, have lunch with a friend, mail stuff, etc. So you have a great day too.

My Mom is doing fine. We went to a university girls' basketball game together last night and she was doing good...and the girls won by 31 points, so it was a good night all the way around!

She may very well need her vision tested. When was the last time?

To be honest, I don't know but she knows it was longer than 2 years and it's every 2 years she's supposed to go. The thing with Mum is, if she's told she needs new lenses she will definitely want new frames (as she's "bored" with her present ones) so it will make it way more expensive. I suggested just getting her eyes tested for now and to keep hold of the prescription. That way she could get her frames/lenses by shopping around. I will mention it again tomorrow night when I ring her up. Me nagging her might spur her into action..but then again it might not!

uff..my mom's usually good for the pointing out things.. like loudly telling someone they have toilet paper on their shoe. she has no sense of "indoor voice",or decorum for that matter. i have days where i wish a hole would open in the ground..

The mother job is a universal job, which is so typical in the world and it is the ultimate. Many of the mothers are become busy after her children grown up. But u r really lucky that u r mother is spending her happy life with you. Don't miss if you have any chance to spend with your mom again. Enjoy well. have a nice day, God bless you and your mom.

Sorry for the delay in replying. I live 100 miles away from my parents now. If the petrol was cheaper we could visit them more often but, alas, it's so expensive to travel anywhere in this country now. However, when I do visit Mum I'm often there for 2 weeks, not just a couple of days, so that makes up for the weekends I don't go..well, I hope it doesn anyway.

Your Mum played the fool.I think she is a lady of humour and wit.It is great that parents are still living and in good health. From your posting,I know of tomato growbags first. It seems to me that you make the most of the space to grow vegetables.those are true green foods.

The tomato growbags are for my Dad. Because he hasn't got transport to pick them up locally Mum asked my husband to put a couple in the boot of his car instead. Dad doesn't have to worry now.

Hiya Janey, Your Mum is great fun to have around. I would love to be able to go Shopping with someone like your Mum. She says what she thinks too from what I can see. Shame you canĀ“t get to see here more often. I know you live such a long way from her as well. Well if you can stay with here for two weeks then that will make up for it wont it? Hugs to your Mum then and your Dad too.
