Good Listener

Have you noticed that when you are talking to someone they keep nodding their head but they are not really listening to what you are saying? My question is, are you a good listener? Have you encountered this with anyone?

Many times I've experienced that kind of situation. One time I met up with my friend whom I didn't see for a long time. I was so excited to talk to her, that we miss each other and would want to have serious talks about what went up with our lives. I was talking to her and she kept nodding and smiling, but to my dismay, I noticed that under the table, she is using her cellphone and is texting to someone else. I was so disappointed that I stopped talking to her and said that I wanna go home.

Hi redviolet, thanks for your response. Have you made up with you friend? Did she explain why she did what she did?

Hi wallacej! Yes I have encountered this and the first thing I did is asked him he has really listening to me because if not then I'll just have to end the discussion. I understand that there are times we can't get the full attention of someone whom we are talking with so I always ask them first if it was really important. But if it's a serious thing we are talking about then I will be disappointed of course. I'm a good listener I can say and I always try to look in the eyes of the speaker so as to create connection and the communication will be much better and understood. Have a nice day!
