My laptop completly froze up today and I had no option but to power down, the power button did nothing so I removed the battery. I started up the laptop once I put the battery back in and it starts up normally or safe mode etc.I could choose any of those but they don't work what happens is the laptop will restart again and go to the windows logo loading screen and go to the safe mode, start windows normally page again, then it will loop. I don't know what to do, any suggestions?

I did have the same problem for my desktop. Finally, I abandoned my desktop by just leaving it aside. Should you check the bios setting of your computer which might cause the restarting function again and again? Other than this, you should scan your whole computer to clear any possibility of virus's infection. In my experience, I should advise you to send your computer to an experience technician to examine it. If your bios is faulty, you better put your laptop at one side as spare parts.

well i think you need to get it to the tech guy if it is under warranty. i knw the problem is cause because you turned it off like that, so some core file must have gone missing and so you need to reapir that. i guess that can be done by the tech guy and if you have to do it manually, you have to troubleshoot and see where theproblem is by going into safe mode with drivers or some option. you have to check where the problem is and retrive the file. or format c drive and re-install everything :)

I think once inside windows you should disable the automatic restart. This means that whenever your computer crashes it won't automatically restart and continue going through the looping process. When you turned off your computer using the power button, just checking with you but you don't press the power button and let go you need to press and hold the power button until it shuts off completely and then let go. As your computer froze for the first time, just want to ask, did you install any kind of software beforehand? I'm just thinking that sometimes there could be incompatibility issues, wrong software etc. Failing to get into windows at all I also must ask, do you have your original disks that came with your laptop? I mean the windows installation disk and driver disks and there may even be a recovery disk. Some sellers don't give you the disks when you buy the laptop and so you have to request them afterwards. This is the key thing you need to do though and that is disable the automatic restart. I think you will find this under My Computer, properties and then Advanced tab, I think! If you can get into windows you will notice this. Sorry, not much help otherwise. I wish you luck with this. Andrew

There is an option that you can change once in windows and that is to disable restart automatically upon a system crash. However, in order to change this you will need to access the windows desktop. Do you have any of the original disks that came with your laptop, I'm thinking your operating system disk most importantly? If there's nothing you can do, if you cannot even access safe mode then the thing to do may be to start fresh and reinstall windows. I don't know how old your laptop is but you may be able to contact the manufacturer and they can send you out the windows installation disk, perhaps a recovery disk for free. This is what I did with my dell system, I didn't have the original disks and they sent them out to me for free. Anyway, I don't know if you are able to access the advanced options menu, this is where safe mode is at. There's an option there to restore the sytem to last known good configuration. You access this menu by pressing either F12, F8 or some other key, it should tell you when it first restarts. On the advanced options menu there may be something listed as recovery. On laptops now there's normally a space on the hard drive reserved for recovery and it's called the recovery partition. Worst case scenario sounds like a reinstall of windows. Good luck. Andrew
