Need help with Twitter

So I've just joined the Twitter Nation and was wondering if anyone who has been with Twitter for a while has joined and participated in SponsoredTweets. Do you seriously make any money at all with this program, somehow I think it sounds like it is just another way for someone to take my money. Would be interested to hear your thoughts about the program and if it truly is worth my while to invest my time in this.
