Best Scar remedy

I have a scar on my upper lip from a dog that bit me when I was younger. I put Mederma on it every day and try to massage it often to break up the scar tissue. When the dog bit me I had to get stitches, and when I got in college I had the scars re-cut and restitched by the same surgeon to try to make it look smoother. I am now wanting to look into options to try to lessen it's appearance, maybe laser treatment or plastic surgery again. Any suggestions? The scar is not red so I am not sure if a laser would do any good (there is not much information on the internet for this type of scarring). Any suggestions?
