People power's 25th anniversary is almost near. And until now, I don't understand why we have to celebrate it. I guess I'm confused with the real meaning of it. I don't know if that was good for the Philippines because there are many protests that's happening now on different countries. Why do other people doesn't have contentment? They chose the leader, then they will protest against the leader. Rallies, protests and revolutions. Some say it's good for the country, some say it gives a bad impression. So, what is the meaning of EDSA people power to you?

the edsa revolution was the time when the people was overcome by too much emotion. nothing brings people together more than a common hatred for something. they may have been tired of the tyranny,so they just listened to whoever was willing to talk, being unaware that they were being led by a cardinal who just eager to voice out, and some generals who wanted power to themselves (these generals attempted to stage a similar coup later on against the successor). then sometime later, the people were once again led to believe that what they've done was about unity or whatever the media wanted to call it as such.

if there was no edsa revolution, marcos would not have been ousted, cory could not have been president, and kris would not have been an actress. =)

Looks like you commented on your own response. =) Maybe if there's no Kris, there would be no artist you'd be idolizing for now. Just kiddin'.. Going back to the topic, you're right that nothing brings people together but HATRED. It's obvious everywhere. Maybe the word hatred has some magnet or hypnotic effect when felt by people. LOL Have a nice day, murkie!

For me, edsa revolution means tha if Filipinos wanted to be together and work together., we can won all our battles as a nation. I see this event as some proof of unity and oneness spirit. Sadly, though i do not see edsa people power as an event that freed the filpinos from hardships... I think this opened the door for more snakes and alligators to come take their shares in the funds!!

Well, I believe it's just a way of commemorating the liberation of our country from the tyranny that was Ferdinand Marcos. Yes, we choose our leader and we suffer the consequences of our decisions. But from what I know, that time was different. Because things started great with his administration. However, he became greedy with power and money, then put our country under martial law. A lot of people got hurt and punished for no reason at all. It was like our country was a prisoner by its leader. So for me, EDSA people power is a celebration of the Filipino future. A way to celebrate what the country, as one, did to liberate us.

EDSA PEOPLE POWER defines the start of awakening the concept of the true meaning of freedom but this seems became so abusive on the part of expressing demands from the government and in return still agenda of corruption starts all over again to pay thanks to it.Poor people power in whatever place still hopes to keep on rising for a new start, for a brighter tomorrow.
