Overuse of Facebook?

Recently, in some of my classes we have had Facebook discussions, which sounds pathetic I know, but sometimes turn out great. I want the MyLot Community to give me some of opinions! Do you think Facebook is good or bad for are country, or even our planet? My view on it is double-sided. I believe that it is a good, free way to allow people to connect with each other around the globe, I will give it that. However, what about the kids and the adults who spend excess hours on Facebook, doing nothing else? That in my own opinion, depletes your health, your social skills, and your individuality. Like I said, thats just my opinion! So MyLot users, let me hear yours.

Facebook, like any other social site,is good for people in many ways, but only if it's overused and it becomes addictive,it can be harmful and it can have a negative impact on the social life of those who are addicted since facebook friends will probably become more impotrant to them than the real ones, and that will eventually lead to people getting more and more isolated in the virtual world.Anyway, almost anything in life is harmful if it's overused,so facebook is no exception.

I agree with seems like everyone else. Facebook is good and bad. On the good side I have reconnected with friends and family that I had not seen in years. It is a source of communicating things with a great deal of people very quickly. I have also developed some great friendships with people all around the world through some of the games I play. I tend to spend far too much time online on somedays but not as much as others. For me it all depends on my health that day. I have a rare disease and on bad days I can't do anything so it's a great companion and I can still talk with friends. As for the youth, most of the people I know who are 18 or under don't actually spend that much time on facebook so I'm not sure

Hi. Shwakim. Welcome to myLot! In a way I see it as a good and bad side. It is a great way to meet up and connect and reunite with many people from all around the world. However, many people feel as if Facebook is their entire life. They make it their business to be on Facebook if it is the last thing that they do. They tell too many private things to others. They display negative attitudes with each other. They sit on Facebook for hours chatting and playing around. Facebook is a great site, it is not a place to cause confusion at.

I kind of feel both ways about facebook too. I appreciate it because I have been able to find family and friends that I would not have otherwise connected with. But it can be way overdone too. So there is good and bad both associated with facebook.

Hello Shwankim, Facebook and other social sites good for sharing ideas or solutions to problems like fixing a car or where to buy cars or how to make a yummy meatloaf dinner. When it gets into trouble is the personal side of people and they can get really inimate online: there is fals sense of security were they think no one cna find them or they will not get in trouble. The another bad thing is what we say online can get miscontrued or out of context and people can loose there jobs over this. If we were back to snail mail we would never be able to write to so many people or talk on the phone it cost us a lot money espeically for over seas connections. I just watch the Facebook Movie and I really do not like that dude who created facebook. I would not trust him anything personal. That is my opinion and I did not know he was that selfish about money towards his freinds. To be so focus on that project and how he did not like ladies because of his ex-girlfriend did not agree with him. I hope he has matured now! Thanks and have a great day! Sincerley Unique16

I believe that facebook is a good thing and a bad thing. It's a good thing because it allows you to socialize with people, share photos on the internet, be updated on the lives of your friends, even let's you be reacquainted with your old friends. I mostly use facebook for the games. But it's a bad thing because people are being obsessed with the network. People are on it for 3 hours and in those 3 hours they could be doing something productive with their lives. Facebook is fun but is it really necessary to be on it for more than 30 minutes.

Do you have to write something as homework for school? hehe I think I am on your side. I like Facebook that we can keep in touch with friends and relatives, just like me, I'm all the way over the other side of the world frmo my family and friends, I cannot call every single one of them every day so having facebook, I could post my pictures or comments to each other conveniently. I am not super crazy about Facebook, I just post my daily pictures sometimes and share with my friends.

Facebook is addicting to the young generation now and they really need t get outside and see the sunlight like we all used to when there wasnt the internet to use. Facebook is addicting to young kids just as there play station and x boxs are. There is a kid in my neighborhood i used to see out everyday riding his bixe and chatting wtih all of us around the neighborhood and now i never see him and he was out helping his mom the other day and i was like where have you been and we is always using his xbox. These kids need to reize that being outside is fun too and just waking around the block is going to help them in life. You have to get some vitamin C from the sun somehow. Stop playing online and get a life it seems like.
