Why is www disappearing?

Have you noticed a new change in the internet world? Long ago every website had a www........com address, but now people do not use www anymore. This trend was pointed out by one of my blog reader.
For example there is factoidz.com and there is no such website like www,factoidz.com.
Another trend is http://neobux.com which is probably a phishing website using the reliable name of http://www.neobux.com.
Do you have any idea why this trend is emerging? Is it related to the top internet authorities probably 11CAN something. Please give an idea.

Actually, the maker of the Internet said that he thinks www is redundant. It's more like a joke that has been added at the beginning and now was always used. Less and less people write www because it's just not necessary and you can save some time from typing this and also as said before, takes less space in packages.

This is true , less and less people write www, it saves time and of course space and money$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ too.

Well, www stands for world wide web, and it's pretty redundant to have it as part of an address. Everything on the internet is part of the web, so it's like putting "earth" on a letter you mail to you friend after writing the city and country.

yes RebeccaScarlett, you are absolutely right. Thank you for participating in the discussion. I think you have highlighted a pretty nice point. www has became redundant, no need to use it now.
