State of school education in the USA?

The USA has the best universities of the world but their school education is pathetic. So more and more American parents feel need to supplement their children’s school curriculum with tuitions. A Bangalore based online tuition institute, the name of which I am not going to disclose, has most of its students from the USA. Can you explain why there is such a disparity in the education system in the USA?

Yes. In America we don't value education. Teachers are not getting paid well. And the ones who Love teaching are getting frustrated and are leaving. Bad teachers can and do remain. And No One knows how to make this better. Bush thought the" no child left behind" program would fix it but it has made it far worse. Instead of getting rid of bad teachers it has made all teaches hostage to a test. If a school doesn't have their kids pass this test, the shool loses it's funding. So instead of making sure each child Can Learn and do well , teachers are teaching the kids how to pass the test. Not How to take a test. That Would be useful. No, they are being taught how to pass this test. Anything that isn't on the test , is being left out. Any child who Can't pass the test is either being transferred or dismissed. Fear of losing momey is ruling what happens in the classroom. So there are many students who are not learning the basics. Many parents are taking their child out of bad schools and home schooling them instead. And many kids that are brighter than their peers are being taken out and tutored at home so they are challenged. So parents are looking for other means thus the spike in U.S. kids getting tutored.

We are very lucky where I live to have great schools and teachers. My grandson is in the second grade this year. They have just recently put him in the IUP program and so alot of other programs open up for him. We are lucky to have the educational system we do here. I really don't understand why the rest of the US has such an educational situation.

I guess I do not understand what you are asking or saying. Are you talking about higher education, or are you talking about the primary grades. There are good schools and bad schools. Much of this is based on parental involvement. The most involved parents, the ones that value education, will do what they have to to make sure that they are getting the best education for their children. As programs are cut, parents who want their child to have a well rounded education turn to other means. Some try to teach their children on their own, others turn to tutors and others to online programs to help supplement what their child is learning online. I feel that the school district that my child will be going into has strong teachers who teach the core subjects of reading, mathematics and writing very well, but due to budget cuts the arts and sciences are not developed as strongly. I will probably supplement with outside programs so that my child can get the best education possible.

I don't have an idea why there is a disparity there. Maybe the teaching process is poor even though the ranking of the school is high. That could happen.
