Swallow tailed humming bird

I have a beautiful swallow tailed humming bird in my garden for the first time. I have always had the tiny inch long ones but for the first time this beautiful swallow tail came and has stayed for several weeks now. I don't have a feeder, just flowers in the the garden. Every time that I go out there it's as if I am being welcomed. He flies over my head, making that sound that they make and then sits on the lowest branch of the yellow Poui tree and allows me to get within a few feet of him. I don't have a lot of butterflies but there are all types of birds, tiny ones mostly. Unfortunately I don't know the names of most of them. I just know the striped ant eater and the tiny grass twits, there are yellow ones and grey ones and bluish ones, the black birds are the noisiest and the swallows are just wonderful singers.

I do not know the name of all common birds here, and we have not the same, but I believe that the swallows are the same everywhere. If it let you approach it and flies over your head, your swallow seems to have adopt you ! I never saw that except for a couple of turtle-doves, but I was cheating : I was buying food for them. I stopped when I saw that my cat, who has never hunted any animal, was really interested by these birds. Each spring I have a wonderful night singer for neighbor in the trees of my garden : it is a male nightingale. He sings between midnight and four or five to call the female nightingales during the love season, and I think he has a lot of success, because he is a very good singer .

That was beautiful topffer. Thanks a lot. I found out that we do have nightingales after all but we call them Picheerie. While I was playing the songs you sent, one came and sat in the garden cherry tree outside my window. It was eating the fruit so I think it was just coincidence. We have a lot of them out here, I just didn't remember that they were nightingales.

Hello all the trees were cut in my locality in the name of city beautification and widening of streets, long back i saw humming birds, but now no birds, not even a crow or pigeon are seen. Thanks for sharing Cheers. God bless you, have a nice day ahead. Professor ‘Bhuwan’. .

Oh that is so sad!. I love watching the birds from my kitchen window especially when I am doing something mindless like washing the dishes and there is one chirping away in the Guava tree just outside. Right now I can hear one chirping away. I got up and had a look but couldn't find it, I found 2 big ripe guavas instead. Those sour ones that even thinking about them makes your mouth flood with saliva! Its still out here chirping away but hiding from me. I found it! A tiny thing, dark yellow with olive green wings and tail, black stripes and a circle of black around the eyes, very pretty. Sorry that you don't get to see birds any more, they can be very soothing.
