When I first started on MyLot I was told by my liberal responders that I should not use WND as a source as it was not reliable. I quickly realized that it was not that WND was unreliable, but that it was conservative in it's reporting of current events. Same went for FOX. If you used them here on MyLot you were pretty much laughed at by the liberals here. Well, I kept on reading WND and using it as a source of information, and it appears I am in good company. Apparently Donna L. Halper who teaches Media Criticism at Lesley University at Cambridge encourages her students to always get BOTH sides of the story by reading such conservative news sources. She feels its important to be informed of both sides of the issues. She says in an unsolicited letter to WND: Every semester, I tell my students to make sure they include both publications on their reading list. It's all part of how I see my job an educator. I believe I have a duty to encourage my students to explore the various sides of the issues. To help them do this, I select the best writers who espouse differing views. I ask my students to read the Nation and American Prospect and Salon.com, all of which look at events from the left; but I also expect them to read publications like the Weekly Standard, National Review and WND, where they will find the best examples of commentary that leans right. So, while you probably won't find me becoming a conservative any time soon, you will always find me saying good things about the importance of WND and Whistleblower. And if you love them as much as I do, I hope you will support them. For our democracy to remain strong, we need intelligent and insightful commentary from both the left and the right, so that people can get all the facts and make up their own mind. WND and Whistleblower say what needs to be said, and even those of us who don't agree with every word respect the energy, the enthusiasm and the passion of its authors. I do hope you will do your part to keep these vibrant publications alive. http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=79415 You see, I keep saying that I have liberals and democrats as close friends and they don't get condisending with me or call me racists out here in real life or even on other social networks. So why the hard time on MyLot? Most intelligent people are not afraid to read or even consider the opposing viewpoint. In fact, that is all part of healthy debate and remaining open minded. Could be, perhaps those who laugh at WND readers are not as open minded as they need to be? And before you ask, yes, I read more than just WND.

I agree with you and the author of this letter. This is why I often read the huffington post, msn, I believe it is very important to get more than one view point. In any given issue, every body views things differently.

So why do you think the liberals try to make anyone who uses sources like WND out to be less than intelligent? Or why the smears against FOX from the left? What has happened to honest and open debate? What are liberals afraid of? Becasue that is what I'm seeing, they're afraid of honest open debate and anyone who is arguing against them has to be made out to be unintelligent, but they just wind up looking like the morons when they do this. They are acting like automotons, preprogrammed with a standard reply.

I get an awful feeling that they ARE programmed. It's creepy to see otherwise intelligent people say the things that are said. I've even been in discussion where historical facts were denied. Like I was making something up.

I have many times given the link to WND to confirm any article or opinion within some of my posting. I am so tired of the validity of the information being dismissed because of the source (WND). Now I realize this is the only comment the myLot Dumocrats can use to cover up the fact that they have no intelligent truthful rebuttal to the WND information. Occasionally I have posted a disclaimer saying that if trashing WND is all they have to offer then IMO their response does not dispute my post. Of course I read other sources. I am so ignorant as to think that there is only one side to every viewpoint. In college I used to really enjoy some debate where I had to research both sides of the topic as I never knew what side I would be called to debate.

A truly intelligent person realizes there are two sides to every issue. But if some of the liberals I've heard recently were to actually do that we'd have to get along and actually fix the problems in this country. Have you ever wondered why things just seem to get worse and worse. The American people are being pushed into class warfare. We're being told we don't get along and can't accomplish change without our fearless leader Obama's vision for America.
