Academy Awards-The Winners and Losers

Yes, the awards have been handed out as the envelopes were open today. running with the victory wind was of course 'The King's Speech' which took the Best film Award and the coveted Best Actor Award. Natalie Portman took the Best Actress Award which undoubtedly deserved. For Melissa Leo, it was a shocker of a win and for Christian Bale, it has been a long time since his first movie, 'Empire of the Sun'. To clinch the Best Supporting Actor was definitely 'wunderbar' for him. As expected, 'The Social contract' did not fare well but Inception took its 4 awards which it richly deserved. The losers regrettably included Helena Bonham Carter and Geoffrey Rush, Mark Wahlberg and James Franco. This is a great year at the Oscars. Did you see it live?

I don't think Melissa Leo's win was much of a shocker. Annette Benning was the favorite, but Melissa was very close behind. Everybody else was pretty much on par in terms of winning their awards. There weren't that many real surprises, even with King's Speech stealing the thunder from Social Network.

My friend, on the home stretch, 'The King's Speech' did win over the imagination of the voting people. For me, I like to see promise in an actor and actress. Annette Benning is just another Elizabeth Taylor, almost flawless in her acting, and so we should evaluate her on a higher plane. I was actually pining for Hailee Steinfield.
