How is top Discussionselected by myLot.

I see that some discussion are put in ""today's top list"" , every day so even i want to feel special in that way but i really want to know that what profit we get if our discussion is best of the day . and how does our discussion become the topmost discussion of the day . However i don't think it is according to the no. of responses in it because i am observing from the past one week that many discussions with 2 or 3 responses are top and with 8 responses are ranked 5th 6th respectively.

Well its automatically selected by some software.. In 'hot discussion' page discussions gets selected by number of responses and comments.. i guess in top discussion too some software is choosing them ..
What profit we get??? The more people will able to see your discussion and means more chances of receiving more responses.
