The last 8 years I've been home with the kids to ensure they get the proper caring and nurturing they deserve. Now that I can return to the workforce, I am finding it to be really difficult. I've applied to dozen of jobs I know I am well qualified for and can do the job with my eyes closed. I know for a fact that they are not even looking at my resume simply because of the 8 years employment gap. Is raising a family no longer guarded? I work longer hours, tight budgeting, run errands, 3 course meal catering, planing, and housekeeping just to name a few, but evidently these tasks are not sufficient enough for employers out there. What must one do to enter back into the workforce. Any advices or anyone have job openings?

My situation is very different from yours, but I can give you a little advice. Try to make some "friends in high places." If you can establish some connections and they get to see the type of person you are, and how capable you are, they will overlook the time away from the workplace. Make as many friends as you can at social functions would improve your chances of finding a mutual friend who can introduce you to a hiring manager. Good luck in your search!
