HELP "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"

More often than not on my laptop, everytime I click on a link I end up with the 'cannot display' message and have to try several times before getting where I want to go. The laptop is new (I've had it for several months but only recently started using it frequently) and there do no seem to be any problem with my internet connection as I have no such problem on my PC. Could it have to do with the laptop settings? or perhaps the wi-fi? Thank you.

Sounds more like you are missing some graphic updates. Have you checked the Microsoft site to make sure you have the java, patch and or .net updates?

Thank you! I downloaded 5 recommended updates last night, and so far so good. It didn't occur to me that my programs were out of date as until recently I used mainly my PC and on it, new updates are installed nightly when I turn it off. Not so on the laptop it would seem. My Java was up to date but I removed it and downloaded it again just in case. As I said, everything seems to be working fine this morning. Haven't had a problem yet. So, fingers crossed. Thanks again for your help.

I think that you should do other things with it first to know what really is the problem. I think that you should try another browser. If things are still the same, maybe it has something to do with your system. It might be compromised or some sort. Just try another browser first.

Thank you for your input. The recommended updates seem to have fix the problem, but if it recurs, I'll try switching browser. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the system. I ran a full scan which came up negative, and except for the aforementioned problem, the laptop isn't the least bit sluggish...
