I am a teacher for children and most of the time, I can only hold their attention for a very short period of time. Can anyone here suggest an activity that would keep them from staying within the room?

Try playing a game of commands, like for example, you can shout out Attention or Salute, march in place, clap your hands. Then when they got the hang of it, it would be easier for you to ask them to sit down, stand up or be silence. I hope it will work for you.

Hey, that's a good one. I will try it to my students. Thanks for the advise. This is very much similar to Simon-Peter says but I will make it a little like playing soldiers. See you around.

It is not easy to attract attention of student in class. But try to understand what they are do when they present in class and also mix in them. Whatever you teach them behave like their friend. So they feel comfortable with you. I am also student but my teacher is like my mom, because she is very familiar with all of us student. Try to become friends of your student then see what is result? Sorry my English is some weak. I hope you understand it!

Thanks for your advise. I do treat them like a mother. I am just running out of physical activities that would keep them busy. Employing the same activities all the time makes them uneasy and they tend to lose interest. I have been scouring the internet to find activities for children. Again, I'm grateful for your input.

I think that inviting someone who is new to them might help. I think that having an unfamiliar face in front of them will really catch their attention. In this way, I think that they will behave a bit.

Hmmm... That's a good one. Thank you very much. Now, I would just have to check my friends if I can ask favor from them to do this for me. See you around.

Students don't want a routinely boring pure lecture. Try to combine some activities that would foster both learning and fun. In this way, they would tend to participate more and can associate the lessons learned with the activities they joined at. There are also some topics that really need the actual setting of such event or thing in order for them to see the real picture of it. You can let them do hands on or have a field trip to appreciate what's being taught of them. In every game, activity, or field trip, supplement them with knowledge afterward that they may see the relevance of such things with the lessons they have.
