How can I give good customer service when I don't even deal with customers?

Okay. So I work in this department store as a cash office clerk, and my shifts always fall in the early morning (6am to 10am) just before the store opens, and my duties mostly consist of counting all the money from the previous day's sales. So that means, no customer interaction at all. Now, our manager is asking us all employees to fill up these "commitment cards" on which we should write down how we could improve a customer's shopping experience. My co-workers' answers were usually like "I will improve a customer's shopping experience by greeting them and always being there to help" or "by smiling at them and thanking them after every transaction," etc. What about me? How can I improve a customer's shopping experience when I don't deal with them at all in the first place. What should I write on my "commitment card?" Any ideas?

I would say that I as an employee will perceive each customer as if they were me and how I would like to be treated. I would always try to be reasonable abiding by the company rules. Sometimes as a customer service rep some try so hard they sound scripted, so I would say be the best you can at work and ask questions when you do not understand.

Nice. How about mentioning something about reducing shortages and losses? How do I relate that to a customer's good shopping experience? I would like my answer to sound like that. :)

Reminding customers to keep their original receipts and preventing from destroying the outer packaging of the item. Also reminding customers of the return policy timelines. These alone can reduce losses for a company.

Smile at your co-workers. Treat your boss like a customer. Mind your own business is the common activity after all.

Thanks! How about relating my duties (such as reducing shortages) to good shopping experience? My duties in the cash office include keeping track of shortages and overages and minimizing them as much as possible. How can that improve a customer's shopping experience? I think my boss wanted my answer to sound like that.

I would write "i will improve a customer shopping experience by showing up to work everyday and doing my job to the best of my abilities therefor allowing my fellow co workers to do their job to the best of their abilities and improve the general shopping experience for all customers"
