Logo, Banners and Headers

I've seen a lot of techie mylotters in the discussion area. I'm gonna need some help, I want to know the difference between a logo, a banner and a header. Are they using the same software? Is there a site I could find that gives a tutorial in a very basic way? as in for beginners.
