Unreliable texting

Have you ever received a text message about a store refusing someone service for simply wearing a military uniform? And if you receive that text would you automatically assume that was a real situation? This happened the other day. A friend had sent me the text just stating that "such and such" store refused to serve a man in uniform. Nothing more than that. Well I have been dealing with some other emotional stuff right now and never text back asking if they saw this or how they even knew it...well today I had to get a ride home from my neighbor and we passed by the gas station that supposedly had refused the uniformed man service. I had forgotten about the text until my neighbor had mentioned somehting about seeing it on the news. Apparently, it never had happened and someone was just sending the text around to people. I am glad to have found this out because at one point eventually I would have went into the place and asked if it was so and then if it was I was going to say my peace about what I thought of that. After all, this is a free country. So have you ever received a text like this before? And do you ask questions or just go with the flow?
