Using headlights when driving

I was wondering how many people do this. I notice when I'm driving at night I am only using my low beams. I know it's a simple click to get on my high beams, but I always forget. I normally use my high beams until the first car comes by me. Then I never put them back on, they stay on low. How many other people do this? Also do you use your headlights during the day? I always leave mine on because I think other drivers are able to notice you more with them on. What are your thoughts?

You're right. It's a good idea to use headlights during the day, that way we can been seen a lot easier by others. My vehicles headlights are set to come on automatically whenever I start my car so I always use them when I drive, day or night. But even before I had a vehicle that did this I'd drive with the headlights on regardless of what time of the day it was. In addition, there are some areas, at least where I live, where it is required to use headlights during the day, although not everyone does this. Additionally, some states (including the one I live in) passed a law that states "if the weather is bad enough to turn on your windshield wipers, you have to turn on your headlights too." (You can read about it here: http://www.ehow.com/about_5332959_headlight-laws.html) Unfortunately, not everyone does this either. As for using high beams, I tend to remember. However, there's a lot of traffic on the roads I drive, so unless I drive at night (say after 10pm), I normally don't get the opportunity to use them. But when I do I usually put them back on after a car passes by...so long as it's the only one, that is. Happy mylotting!
