Cash for old cell phones

I am getting ready to send an old cell phone away to a company for money. I just found out recently that there are companies that will pay for your old cell phone. If you decide to go this route, make sure that the company is trusted and preferably a BBB business. All you do is go to the website, find your old cell phone make and model, answer some questions about the condition of the phone, process your information with the company which is just name, address and email address. Make sure that you take the SIM card out of the cell phone if it has one. Then just print your receipt and a free shipping label.
If you find that your old cell phone has no cash value but is still in good shape, you may consider donating it to a charity for a tax deduction. The government allows you to claim the phone for the price that it would be if it were new. Make sure to print your receipt upon donation and save it for tax filing time.

Excellent idea I especially like the donate them option because I know used them for battered women shelters. Thanks.

Hi Linda, I wish every government has such scheme to encourage recycling, and help the individuals to make some cash.
I doubt there is such scheme to claim the donated cell phone for tax purpose.
I have a few old cell phones at home. In fact, these are old models but never been used.
When I signed up for contract renewal, I was given a new cell phone.
I never used that, since my old Nokia phone lasted for a very long time.

I have lot of old cellphone. But the problem is I don't know any one who will buy these.A very old model and I think don't have any value now. Why? From time to time there is always a new model release in market. So Ms. Linda, good for you, you can exchange your cellphone for money. Oh! By the way. I remember I read an article in Yahoo He swap his phone for car. Maybe you can do that too.
