Now that homes all over the United States have an Internet connection employers are offering jobs where people can work from home. It is unfortunate that over the years the work at home job has become a name famous for scams, but if you are careful and you do your research, the real jobs are out there. If you follow the list below and you have a bit of dedication and patience then you will find a telecommute based job. You just need to put a little bit of work into it. First, determine the type of job you want to have. Do you like writing? Then focus on blogging and article writing. Maybe even tech writing jobs if you have a technical background. You can also answer phones for customer service companies or run web servers for small businesses. Make sure that you have a proper work area. Most companies want you to have a quiet space where you will not be interrupted by the home telephone or television. They do not want their customers to know you're working from home and will not hire you if they hear dogs, children, or even lawnmowers in the background. You should write several different resumes to match the type of work you're looking for. Focus on the aspects of your previous employment that match your new career. You don't have to leave anything out, just make sure you intensify the areas of work related to the job you're applying for. Check work at home job sites like wahm and The Telecommute Resource. Make a list or a spreadsheet with columns to check off for what you've applied for, the date, if they've responded, etc then begin sending off your resume with a cover letter. Remember to focus on your skills in the cover letter and be sure to tell them you have a secluded place at home where you can get your work done. Be patient. There are a lot of people applying for jobs right now and with the high prices of gasoline many have turned toward working at home.
