i did not know that my local friend was not only an office man but also a good male midwife.. lol you know, it is my first time to see a camel giving birth.. oh my god, the baby camel may possibly die without anyone attending as she can be stucked right there with her toes showing....it was hilarious to see that my friend pulled the baby camel's forefeet to the max in order to come out...

NO i've never helped or seen anyone/anything giving birth (did see some woman giving birth on tv once but they didn't show everything, just saw the doctor holding a baby sometime later so i guess that doesn't count). But I do want to see woman giving birth someday. I think I'll freak out though

you are so hilarious Girl.... hahaha you know when i was in taif, the most mountainous part here in SA, those baboons (monkey) when they give birth, they would come and knock your door or window to seek help... God No i said not me please I know when monkey give birth, they are so gross.. they squat, they walk, jump or anything when they feel laboring.. i have seen a laboring monkey, the baby is there waiting and i can almost see her head coming out she just needed a lil push from her mother but the mother really is something bittchy! she sat down with all those nasty sticky hanging on her behind and i feel pity for the baby who want to come out as she might get hurt or her head might be stinged with sharp rocks or any objets littering there... about woman, i think it is lovely to watch like an added experience hahahaha and i would not freak out.. hahahaha

Hi Dear Zills! I am the one who is a professional in doing this ! I am a resident Veterinarian working on a Stud Farm and every year I almost attend about 125 foalings, i.e giving birth of babies by mares (female horses). Ours is a breeding unit, where we breed the Thoroughbreds for the purpose of racing. Here we cross the mares and after confirming the pregnancy we monitor the mares till they give birth to the young ones , which we call them foals and then these foals are raised till two years of age and then are sent to race course. This is a regular feature every year so I practically attend every foaling on the farm, which is about 125 or so in numbers! Thanks!

That's a very interesting experience for your friend and to you as well watching him. I can picture it in my head and that made me laugh as I was reading your post. When I was little, I remember helping our cat push and caress her tummy as she was giving birth to her kittens. That's the only thing I did and most of the time just assist in placing the babies on top of soft cloth I prepared for them to rest on.

Sixteen years ago, I actually had one billy goat and two nanny goats. I bought them from an old man who said he couldn't take care of the goats anymore. Since I was living in a semi-rural village with my two preschool daughters, I decided that I could also try being a goatherd. One day, as I was tending the goats, I noticed that the two nannies were unusually inactive from munching grass. When I looked closely, I discovered that they were birthing. I went frantic and as I realized that both nannies were delivering two kids each, I took the kids one at a time and placed them in my makeshift goat house. I gave the nannies some water while the billy was actually keeping watch over his brood. Before I knew it, my two little daughters were cheering me, saying I was already a certified goatherd. It was uncanny, cradling the newly born kids in your arms.

Ooops, I hope my words are not high-falutin. I try to use simple words that everyone can understand. I know that we have friends from China and Indonesia, and that they are trying to learn the English language through mylot. Thanks for telling me zills, but I am glad Mr. Webster is your friend. Or is it Mr. Oxford? He is in the news, confirming that LOL and I

i help with cows a bit when needed at work. yeh sometimes it's really hard to pull the calf out and it takes a lot of effort as well. then you get some animals who dont have a go and try to push the calf out themselves and it comes out really easy as well

That's great. I have tried when i was young. My grandfather has a farm and farm animals. We were visiting the farm one day and i saw a goat and watching the animal being restless. I can see that she's pregnant, but i never thought she is about to give birth. Then suddenly the mother goat made a cry and i saw a head coming out... Oh my,i run to catch the baby, and i made it ... I called for help and i was a bit nervous,i don't know what to do either (hehehe) The mother goat gave birth to 2 baby goat and i am happy to assist the delivery.

Hi zills: I remember when I was a kid that I care for a little abandoned dog. I give him food and work until he has grown up. I feel nice but I have never seen someone helping an animal giving bird. Actually I haven't seen a scene like this in reality. It must be a very beautiful spectacle of the nature. ALVARO

Yes, I have. I raise cats. Cats in labor have to be watched because they have no sense of danger. My cats love to nest in my bookcase, or on one of the other shelves in my house. Initially, this is a good idea. But, the mothers do not understand that the babies can fall off the shelf, down to the floor and be seriously injured or killed. I once had to grab a baby while it was still in the birth canal because it would have dropped to the floor.

they said cats have 9 life don't know how true was that....the only possible idea that could give the newly born kittens into jeopardy is that, being delivered in water or any wet places, perhaps... lol

Hello Zills, Even if I love dogs the most, I haven't helped a dog in giving birth yet. But I did helped a sow. She brought 11 healty little pigs to light with my insignigicant help. My mother said she won't put her hands on those little worms, so I had to be the one who helped the helpless little pigs. It was an interesting experience I might say.

Maybe everyone else here will say yes, but I say no - never helped and never see. But me mom was a cat - girl. And I often saw small, newly born kittens. So small, bald, with eyes closed, but after a week already cute and furry .I have seen the young rabbits and chickens, my mom have chicken and rabbit in countryside

try sometime and you'll be pleased lol... you know i had never expected that my friend can do that but believe me i was really amazed and entertained the way he pulled the baby camel out from her mother... he pulled by his bare hands with all those sticky that leashes the baby yucks hahaha and his pantaloon (jeans) turned bloddy as he does not have any wiping rags at that time..
