Crowdfunding is the collecting cooperation by people who pool their money together - via the internet - to support the initiatives of another person or people. It occurs for a variety of reasons - from disater relief and community/charitable purposes, to artists seeking support from their fans, to funding a startup company or small business. Have you ever used crowdfunding as a means of getting a project off the ground? Or have you helped support a cause or project via a crowdfunding site?

I have been part of crowdfunding. My boyfriend is an actor and many of the newer ones are so new to business and sometimes some of them have to travel of auditions so we have pulled together and donated funds to either start a benefit to raise funding for the trip and or pull together to collect enough to assure the actor/actress could travel.

I've not done it before. This is the first time i came across it, and it seems interesting. How is one supposed to trust the other person with the money they donated? How is one going to be sure, money pooled is really donated too? I don't mind if it's just a small sum. However, when there are a lot of people helping out, the money is going to be a great sum. I don't want to feel like an accomplice when that person decide to keep the money to themselves.
