finding my biological father

I would really like to find my biological father. I have never met him because he and my mother divorced before I was born. My stepfather died in 2005 and my mother died in 2008. I have wanted to find him for years. I have his name, date of birth and last known address (in 1963). Any time I do a people search, it costs to find an address. Is there any way I can get more information without paying for it?

You can try peoplefinder to find out stuff about him. I hear it's free.

I tried it. The search is free, getting the information from the search is not. If the letters don't get any kind of response I guess I'll have to pay. It's not much but it's the principle of the matter that bothers me.

If this does not work, go to the library and look at any magazines they have about genealogy or tracing the family tree. I have seen some that have information that will help in tracing relatives as well as ancestors.

Just pay for the charge if it's not that expensive so you can find him, right? I mean, not everything is free nowadays so it's better to take advantage of its cheap service than resort to a more expensive one or do everything for free that could take you more time than this.

Here in my country,we can find people from the NBI (National Bureau of Investigation) of from NSO (National Statistic Office). There maybe some payment, but not too much. Maybe you can try also in your country, try local agencies such as SSS or FBI. I am sure you can start tracing people from these agencies without paying much. I wish you can find your father soon as possible,as well his relatives.

Thanks for your input. We don't have those offices here in the United States. Unfortunately I don't know his social security number so that makes it a little more difficult.

Hi johnson, which part of the world do you belong to? In our country,INDIA we have MRO (mandal revenue office) offices in every mandals(country-state-districts-mandals-villages) in which if we gave any name or past address they'll give past photo of them, from the voter id and all, or they'll provide much more information about the person, which 'll be very useful to us, so check out whether you have such service.

Have you tried facebook? It seems that everyone is on there now, it seems like a decent place to start. If you know what school he graduated from you can try looking for the school on facebook and see who had friend the school. You may be able to find family members of his that can help you locate him. Facebook is free, so it doesn't hurt to give it a try. Honestly, I can't believe no one suggested it already.
