One of many online complaints about the ISP's routers.

I got onto the forum for the local ISP and lodged my complaint about the lousy router that people consider to be a paper weight. I've voiced the same concern that many others have in the past, the poor speeds are making people angry. I'm thinking that we'll be canceling our service soon, and going elsewhere, hopefully without the stupid service caps that these ISP's provide. I am more than frustrated with them as another post has mentioned, and will be telling my roommate to deal with this soon. I can't wait to see the replies to my post on that forum, to see what others say about it, and to see if the ISP decides to respond to it as well. I highly doubt that they will, they seem to be more interested in money than providing quality service to consumers. I wouldn't be surprised if they lose a lot of customers over this issue, if they haven't already. It wont hurt them too much though, so they probably wont even bother dealing with this issue at all.

I think it is important to know what other people have to say about these kinds of issues. By posting on that forum, you could see that you are not alone in your complaint. Are there any people talking about specific actions you could take as a group? I don't know if it would make any difference, but if you were to be vocal about it in your area they might listen. I remember one time when I was in China, I had purchased a camera and was told I could return it in two weeks if there was a problem. When we went to return it, my sister-in-law talked to the owner (She is Taiwanese/Chinese)and told them the problem. It had only been a few days since I purchased it they wanted to back out on allowing the return. Finally my brother (who speaks some Chinese) started telling all the people in the building how these guys were trying to rip us off because we were foreigners. Finally they called the police in and after they got the whole story, they told the owner to refund our money. I think we cost them a number of customers, but we got satisfaction. I have never tried that here in the states, but it might work. Have a great week!!!

No one is thinking about doing anything, that's the problem. It doesn't seem to be enough of a concern for them.

It does sometimes seem like big business has very little concern for small customers. I am glad that we live in countries where we can voice our unhappiness freely, but it would be better to have good service, I would think.

Hi GG You remember my 9 full days with out service and my hundreds in losses. I did get hundreds of I am sorry but only a $14 dollar credit. This Internet in my building is my only option so I was stuck with the whole issue and the loss of the IT assignments I had, *sad*

Oh gosh do I know about poor customer service alright. I had my share of my ISP goofing my internet line and leaving me without service for 9 full days. Because I earn online they really killed me. In return I received a 100 I am sorrys and a $14 credit, based on the hundreds I lost from my IT services this was a major loss to me. So no they do not care.
