Young chaps and constant use of mobile phones.

Now a days I often see young chaps roaming busy streets and even driving two wheelers or cars while talking on mobile phones with earphones plugged in. There are examples of so many accidents arising out of this bad practice which take a heavy toll of lives. Administration is trying its best to curb this bad practice by making people aware of the consequences through display of ads on all available media. But this bad practice still now prevails in full swing. Can you suggest any remedy for it?

Everyone should do it by self. We should stop motobike/car to listen calls.

Hi DoctorDidi. I think that they need to make mobile phones to where they won't pick up while riding down the road. I can see this causing accidents. Here in our state it is against the law to talk on the phone while driving. My husband will pull off the road to talk to someone on the phone or I will talk to them and tell them he will call back when it is safe.

Dear friend, I feel each invention have its own negative and positive side. Here it self there are lots of young people using internet. It do have good and bad side. I feel the only remedy at present is to find further more advanced technology which is much secure. At present the use of new technology is well accepted by the youth according to their financial capacity.

Atleast they have earphones on. In the US they are making laws so drivers are sited big time. Oprah did alot to get people to stop using cell phones while driving. I guess young people don't listen or take heed until something horrible happens. People don't seem to care about the consequences now days. They care about the now and there own entertainment.

Any one caught talking on the cell phone while driving should be fined and the phone confiscated on the spot. Such a law exists in India, but the poor implementation of the law is the factor in people doing it anyway.

Oh, this is how young people do their things like we did few years ago, defying rules and laws! But I think the best remedy is to ban use of mobile phones for those who will be found guilty of the offense once or twice. Law may be harsh but if it will save lives why not?

The thing is, making people aware isn't enough to prevent this from happening. Youngsters nowadays are too hard-headed they'll only learn when they experience an accident. What the authorities should do is to implement a law about no texting, no phone calls whenever they're on the road, or at least on the road with a max speed of 60 mph or on regular traffic congested routes. This will dramatically diminish irresponsible young adults.

Most who do this do not think a bad accident can happen to them. Until it does they will continue to do so. It really has nothing to do with age because older people also have the habit of doing so. Last summer a 28 year old plastic surgeon while driving, updated a tweet. A tweet that cost him his life. I wonder what on earth could be so important that one would risk his life and the lives of others that cannot wait a few more minutes. All we can do is advise that it is unsafe. Here in IL it is against the law and if seen doing so one will be ticketed, for a first time offense of $250 dollars. Second offense doubles in fee. So if that does not stop them don't know what really we can do.

Studies have shown that mobile phones use during driving cause accidents and even walking around the busy street can get one into accident too. In my country mobile phone was introduced two years ago and it is like wild fire. Almost every people in a family owns two or more phones and it becomes a big problem. People use for good and bad and at the end of the day the phone companies are laughing away making big money. There is a need for education on phone use, it is simple for communication and for good communication.
