Would you save your country or your family?

This is an adaptation of a question from a chapter I was reading by Jean Paul Sartre. Let's imagine your country is fighting a war. You are currently staying at home with you mother who is very ill and needs you to take care of her. You are her only family because your brother has already been drafted, and other family members have already been killed in the war. Your country is now drafting more people for the war, and people are pressuring you to join. Would you fight for your country or would you stay at home to take care of your mother?

If the mother wasn't ill, it would still be hard for me to go to war.

I think that there are more people fighting for their country than there are people taking care of my mother.- There are soldiers who get a medal because they saved one life. If there is no one to take care of my mother I would stay with her. Her life is as much worth than any other.-
