Just last night our hotel joined the big event that all over the world participated. I was in my room at that time because I am tired for the whole day operation. All of my co associates turn off their light but me I let it ON because I am working my online programs. by participating earth day, do you think that you really help to save our mother earth? I know it's only one way of saving the earth but there's some important thing to do to make our world more safe and secure. You can also make things like plating tress, never burn plastic materials, and so many others. If you are concerned of our mother earth what you did that you think it makes our environment safe and make the world beautiful.

In my opinion no, I don't think Earth Hour helps our planet very much/at all. Doing things for the earth every day would help. But one hour a YEAR? There are many hours in a year, turning off the lights for 1 hour in the year isn't going to help anything.

I agree with your opinion my friend. Better if we turn off the light everyday 1 hour but once every year might not help and not count as much. Maybe it can help only 1% of the total numbers of the positive thing that we can do to save mother earth. Am I right?

I don't think so. Plus not all knows about Earth hour. What we need to do is find a way to restore earth.

Definitely you are right, not all people knows about this even that performed by percentage of the total occupants of our planet. There's alot of way to save our mother nature. If I ask you, what did you do to contribute saving our world?

I'm just one sick person so only thing I do is keep pets. How does it help earth? Since I keep various pets, I try to turn their environment as close as how they are in the wild. So basically, I have a mini jungle at the back of our place. Plus the pets naturally fertilize the grounds.

Hi july teen: I agree with you. Maybe you didn't like to participate on the event for the moment but this doesn't mean that you don't care. There are other ways to show our concern for earth like for example, as you mentioned planting trees. I hope you do it because we only have a world and we have to take care of it. ALVARO

For now I didn't do it because I am outside my country but when I was still in the Philippines I do it almost every month. I am a member of an active mountaineer there and everytime we climb in the mountain we plant trees at the peak or at the foot of the mountain.

I thought it was pretty funny to participate in this. I could turn off the lights any time, any day. Do we really need a special day to inspire us to save energy? It's kind of sad. I live in America, where people waste energy like it's air. In other countries people are so much more conservative. I am very impressed by how quick they take showers, how they hang their clothes instead of using a dryer machine, etc.

It similar here in Middle East, although it's too hot but still we are using dryers to dry our clothes. There's no problem related to water because our water is from the sea which undergone water treatment. In the Philippines (my country) most of the time we save energy as much as possible. What motivated us to save is to prevent our bills become big.

I think earth hour can help if everyone will participate sincerely although it wont manifests drastic change but I think it can make a little change well little is better than nothing at all. I think what exactly can save our earth is everyones sincere commitment to live in an EARTH-FRIENDLY means.

I think it can help if we do it daily or weekly. Once a year don't have a great impact to our electricity consumptions.

I think planting trees , not burning plastics , using a cloth bag instead of polythene ones, converting your car fuel from petrol or diesel into cng helps, a lot these small things helps.Everyone should do their bit into making environment a safer place to live for our future generation.Right now global warming is increasing and weather is getting hotter each year and soon the sea level will rise so much that land level will decrease and islands which are surrounded by seas will maybe submerge into water. So humans should open their eyes and stop exploiting nature. Its time to conserve our nature and make our environment better. We already seen nature's wrath in japan recently and many other places in past.

Not at all, this is the most silly and stupid things I ever encountered done by governments. How it will be to save our planet where governments still created new weapons that not only can eliminated human but whole world. How one hour shut-down electricity can save a world where on the same time Libya's been boomed and destroyed by US and NATO ? One hour shutdown won't save world whereby there are plenty of nuclear reactor worldwide and why human still not learning what happening in Japan presently? After all, after one hour shutdown, everybody will definitely will ON back their electricity and not everyone in the world participating this event. What about those in third world without any electricity?

Yes you are right. What about those people who live in the mountainous part of the world that destroy our nature and they didn't use electricity. Few people only participate on this yearly event. I don't think so if it can help saving our mother earth.
